Room Requests?

I am staying at Caribbean Beach Resort for our upcoming trip (September). I had called a week ago to make a couple of room requests. Today I was able to do online check in, and it said I had not made any room requests. I was confused, but I went ahead and clicked off two choices from the available choices. But the options I'd originally called about are the requests I'm most wanting (one is to be near my sister's room, as we'll be going together), and now I'm worried the new choices will have cancelled those requests out (if they were there to begin with?). Any thoughts or words of advice?

I have been told that the room assigners can see both the online requests and the ones that are phoned in. I usually call central reservations and ask them what is listed as my requests, just to be sure that everyone that I asked for is still listed.

I've heard that you should call the resort directly about 10 days before check in and do the room requests then. I have heard you are more likely to have them honored when you do it that way

This is not accurate, because it is actually impossible to call the resort directly. Your call goes to a call center.

The most important thing is to have it on your reservation record.

I'm also a big fan of after arriving at the check in desk, and greeting the CM, saying something along the lines of "Were my room request(s) able to be met?"

You can call central reservations and ask them to assign a "traveling with" number for your reservations. You will need both your confirmation number and your sister's. The "traveling with" number will indicate you want rooms near each other.

The group I'm going with in November will have rooms and we're all "traveling with" each other. When you make the call to set this up, you can ask about the requests you submitted online.

First off it's normal not to see requests made via phone to show up in MDE.

Second, the requests you made during Online Check In may indeed conflict with your Sister's requests. I recommend calling the main reservations line and ask the phone CM to remove your Online requests. As others have said, make sure your reservations are marked as "traveling with" each other.

If you want to get it double checked and confirmed as received (not guaranteed), call 4 days prior to arrival, because that's usually when the rooms get assigned in the system that check in staff pulls up when you arrive. :surfweb:

But I can't stress this enough, and you've probably heard and read it before.

But these are requests, no guarantees that you will get it. But of course they'll do what they can to accommodate you and your travel party. :smickey:
