room requests

I called and made 2 requests for the BWI. We need a daybed and would like an Epcot view. Now can I still use online check in? Those 2 requests are not on the online page. I won't make any other requests but we really need the daybed. We have a 7 year old who is a kicker at night and no one wants to sleep with him! Thanks!

Yes, you can still check in online. It won't effect your chances of the request.

I'm not sure how the rooms are set up at BWI, but if not all rooms have daybeds, and they are by request only, you may want to bring along an air mattress, just in case you end up in a room without a daybed. Requests are just that, and can not be depended upon.

We did online check in and made a request for first floor and building. Only got one request but was grateful for it.

We've stayed at all of the Boardwalk resorts (YC, BC, BWI) several times and always had a daybed. This is the one time we really need one so we're due to get a room without one. Usually we have only 2 or 3 people in the room. This time we will have 4. I think I will hold off and just check in when we arrive. I never make requests as we are usually happy with anything! I also always do online check in so this is new territory to me.

Yes there is a charge for rollaways, but obviously that will be at the discretion of the hotel to charge and due to op request I don't see it being a problem. Also if you are flying taking an air mattress+bedding can easily cost you more than the rollaway fee. Sure they are first come first serve, but I also see Disney sharing rollaway specially being in the boardwalk hotels I am sure if the BWI is out they can easily call neighboring hotels for one. I also add that any hotel can ask you to remove an air mattress, because of fire codes and loss of revenue.

If I was you before you go to your room I would stop by the front desk and ask if your room has a daybed it will be much easier to reassign room if you didn't go to the room first and in most cases the front desk aren't the ones assigning the rooms (inventory manager does that)therefore they usually don't read the notes. That will give you a better chance to get what you need. Enjoy your trip!

I have never heard of a Disney resort asking a guest to remove an air mattress, as long as the room is not over the occupancy limit. At least if they bring one they will know they have a separate bed, instead of having to hope for one. What are they supposed to do if they show up and one is not available? I guess go to the closest Walmart.

Same here, we have taken one a few times and just stood it up against the wall out of the way.

I am not saying they will ask them to remove it but they can. That will be up to the discretion of the CM. Disney won't provide rollaways in value hotels because of fire code. So they are perfectly within their rights to ask someone to get rid of the air mattress. The air mattress takes the same if not more space than a rollaway therefore creating the same violations to the fire code, it is not only about occupancy. Op has already requested a room with a day bed, second option is a rollaway I think op will be fine. Personally I wouldn't take an air mattress to a hotel.

I don't see that. While they're all owned by one corporation, each resort is operated independently from every other resort.

I worked in hospitality before our resort was layout very similar to Disney (different hotels, timeshare etc). We didn't have a ton of rollaways but we never run out and if another hotel did the runners had no problem coming to get one from us. It did take more time but it wasn't a big deal. Even CM get deployed to other areas/resorts if there is a need so while they are run independently there are still part of a whole.

They no longer provide them at the moderate resorts either, and from what I understand they are very limited in number at the deluxe resorts.

Disney has no problem with the use of air mattresses in their rooms, and it's a very common practice. Many families have kids who won't sleep together. Could they ask guests not to use them? Sure, it's their property. But in 14 years worth of reading the DISboards daily, I've never heard of a single instance of a guest being asked not to use an air mattress.

I'm not going to do online check in. We will go to the desk and check in there. We're not going to a park that evening any way. We land at MCO at 3 pm so hopefully we'll be at the BW by 5 pm. If we can't get a daybed or roll away we'll take turns sleeping with the kicker! I'm not hauling our air mattress with us. By the way, the kicker is a great soccer player!
