I have just made my first DVC booking but did not see the option for room requests.

Can this just be done at the 60 day online check-in?

Thank you

I send my requests to MS via the contact form on the member website. They will note the request on the reservation and email you when they are done.

You can also wait and add a canned request when doing on-line check in, some of the choices aren't really beneficial because on-line check is a Disney product for cash guests staying at a cash resort, not DVC.

The online check-in tool has a list of requests for each resort. You can select two.

If you contact Member Services, they'll put requests on the reservation at any time. If you do this, you're not limited to 2, and you're also not limited to those on the pre-set list.

I also give our request directly to MS. They seem to have different things they can request compared to online check in.

Hi All-

I made our upcoming reservations (first week of December) nearly 11 months ago and just realized I never put in a room request for our stay at BLT LV. I was going to call MS but am concerned if I call now and add a request, we will get "bumped down the list" for room preference...assuming there even is such a thing:confused3

I've always wondered how they decide who goes where and if they take into account when the room was booked. Our past 2 trips to BLT we've requested even number and have received odd each time...both times I've called closer to check-in versus when the reservation was made. In the past, before online booking, I made the reservation over the phone and then provided my room request at that time and received it each time at check-in.

Any thoughts? Frankly, I'm sure it can't hurt but if there is the off chance they assign based upon when booked (for the better views), I thought I might just hold off...who the heck knows:)

Who the heck knows is correct. The un-scientific background of seeing people post on the Dis that they did or didn't get requests, anecdotally suggests that requests aren't on any list ordered by the time requested. One would guess that the room assigners simply get the day's list of checkouts and previously open rooms, and then get the list of check-ins, and see how they match up.

But DVC admin has never seen the need to make the room assignment process transparent. They do tell us that we drop to the bottom of the reservation waitlist if we modify our waitlist. Not so for room requests. Inferring that happens would simply be a guess.

The assigners do seem to pay closer attention to medically necessary notation requests, such as first floor in non-elevator buildings or closer to lobby, but even those are not guaranteed outside of a specific category (HA).

I am confident that the room assigner folks would prefer to make every guest happy. However when there are thirty studio check-ins at BWV on a given Saturday that have all requested "near elevator," and there are only ten studios coming available anywhere close to the elevators, then by definition they are going to not honor 2/3 of their requests that day. That's just how it works in a full-capacity timeshare.

Rooms are assigned by the resort starting up to 10 days prior to check in. The resort doesn't have big reason to make DVC happy, cash guests are a different story.

Each resort seems to do their own process.

Some CM's care more than others when assigning rooms.

Late check-ins seem to end up with rooms picked over as guests request a room re-assignment during the day.

I've given up trying to figure it out. When we stayed at BWV a couple of weeks ago, our only request (which we had made at 11 mos when making the res) was to be as far from the elevators as possible (we find those areas to be much quieter as far as noise from outside the room, which we like). Well, not only was our room not ready until 5PM (though we checked in at 11AM), but it was the third room down from the elevator. And we were told that nothing else was available.

Disney officially doesn't look at timing of the request or whether one owns at the resort in question or not.
