Room Requests?

I booked a 1BR value at AKV for the beginning of June. I am not sure if I will be able to keep the reservation, though. I was surprised that it was available so I snagged it. Now, we have to have 1) GREAT airfare and 2) a decent income tax refund! ( I suppose a second stimulus check wouldn't hurt either:lovestruc )

Since I am only about 50% sure that I am keeping the reservation, is it worth it to add a pool-view request now? Do they "honor" requests based on when the reservation/request was made, or is it just the luck of the draw? I prefer the pool view, but I would be OK with a savanna view too. I just DON'T want a parking lot view! I think there are only 2 units with a "non-view", right? Would it be more appropriate for me to request "No Parking-lot View" than to request having a specific view?:confused3

I know it is only a request...any thoughts?

I wouldn't mind knowing this either. I don't want a parkinglot view, but I wouldn't mind a poole view. is that a standard room? I saw somewhere on this board somebody did a layout of AKV and room #'s types but no idea where that is now

It will be luck of the draw. You can make a request, but it's not guaranteed no matter how early you booked. If you want a pool view then I would request "pool view" rather than "not a parking lot view". You are correct that there are two Value 1BRs that face the parking lot. There are four with a pool view and four with a savanna view so the odds are in your favor to avoid the parking lot view but since the Values probably sell out, that means some guests will end up with the parking lot view no matter what they requested. Good luck!

A value room can have a savanna, pool or parking lot view. There are 10 2BR lock-offs in the value category: 4 pool view, 4 savanna view and 2 looking at the parking lot. I only have a 20% chance of getting stuck with the parking lot, but I would hope that they would give those to the people who don't make a request. (Sorry, I am a little bit :snooty: ....;) )

The standard rooms ("standard" refers to the size, not view!) are larger than the value rooms. In Jambo, the standard rooms ALL overlook the pool. At Kidani, the standard rooms will NOT be savanna view. They might be pool or parking lot....no guarantees, only requests.

LisaS is much more familiar with this information than I am.....
The savanna view rooms are the same size as the standard rooms and they overlook a savanna.

The concierge rooms have the additional concierge service and have a savanna or pool view. Again, only requests, no guarantees.

"Standard" refers to VIEW not size. The only reference to size is "Value". The Value rooms are smaller than Standard or Savanna view rooms. The rest of your information is correct.

I agree....to a point.

I think it gets a little confusing when someone looks at "value" vs. "standard" vs. "savanna view" on the points chart. Looking strictly at points, one would think that a "value" would have a worse view than a standard, if the classification were based on view. In reality, the "value" classification refers to SIZE rather than VIEW. This is what I was trying to point out when comparing "standard" to "value". The value room may have a better view (for less points) than the standard room, but the difference is in the size. I think a lot of people see "value" and immediately assume they are getting the pooper-scooper view!:rotfl:

I think what can confuse people who look at AKV points charts is that there is more than just a view involved. BLT has 3 categories, all based on what you are looking at out your window. BWV has 2 different view categories. Then, you look at AKV and there are 4! But, in reality, there are only 2 views that you can assure yourself of: a savanna view or a pool view (by booking "standard" in Jambo House). Is this making sense:confused3 , because I don't think I am saying it right?

I agree that "standard" refers to view when referring to Kidani Village. At Kidani, since there are no value or concierge accommodations, you are either looking at a savanna or you are not. I think that AKV is one of the most confusing resorts for someone to understand if they are looking only at the points chart. Think of your possibilities and options: value (savanna, lot or pool view), standard (pool at Jambo; pool or lot at Kidani) and concierge (pool or savanna) Well, there's the obvious "savanna view" too, which is a no-brainer. Whew! That's a lot of options to choose from! That's why I am so glad that I own here...there are so many great choices!

I agree AKV is confusing! Here is how I look at it.

There are two defined views at AKV: "savanna view" and "standard view". A savanna view is just what is says. A standard view is defined as a view of "a pool, garden or parking lot".

There are four booking categories at AKV: Value, Standard View, Savanna View and Concierge.

Value: Smaller rooms with lower occupancy (for 1BR and 2BR villas). Some of these rooms have a savanna view and the rest have a standard view (pool, garden or parking lot). These are the least expensive rooms due to their size.

Standard View: Rooms with a standard view (pool, garden or parking lot). In Jambo House, all of the Standard View rooms face the pool. In Kidani the Standard View rooms could face the pool, a garden or the parking lot. These are the second least expensive rooms due to their view.

Savanna View: Rooms with a savanna view. These are the second most expensive rooms due to their view.

Concierge: Rooms with concierge service, with either a savanna view or a standard view (fortunately only pool view in this case, no parking lot views!). These are the most expensive rooms due to the service level.
