We rented DVC points for our upcoming trip. We have two rooms and when I called the other day I requested for our two rooms to be close together. The representative said no problem and put in the request. My mother, who is in the other room called back yesterday to request a handicapped accessible room and they told her that the DVC member we rented from is the only person who can make a room request. Does anyone know if this is true, and if so why were they able to accomadate my request but not hers?

It is true that the DVC member must make the requests. As far as I know, the main reservation line doesn't even have access to DVC reservations.

Who did you call to make the requests?

Only the DVC owner can make requests, changes, etc. They would have to call Member Services to do so. Only DVC owners can call MS...those renting points from an owner wouldn't be able to even call MS. And the regular WDW reservation line doesn't have access to a dvc reservation.

So, long story short? Your mother hit the correct info. Have the person renting you the points make any requests you might have.

Handicapped Accessible is actually a room category in the DVC reservation system.
