I'm debating on weather or not to do online check in before our honeymoon in July. Our plane lands around 11:30am, so I'm assuming we will get to the resort around 1:00pm. Is our room more likely to be ready if we do online check in a few days before?

Also, question about room requests-
If I request a room that happens to be a "preferred room" will I be charged for a preferred room? And how likely is my wish to be granted? We are staying at CBR in a King Bed room, so we are already splurging. Didnt want to pay for the preferred room, but wasnt sure if we could still get one?:confused3

Thanks!

We've done online check-in a few times and had varying experiences with getting into our room early. All online check-in does is get you your package quickly and without any fuss.
If you request a preferred room, yes, you will be charged the difference. It is a separate booking category, not a room request.
Congratulations and have a wonderful time:flower3:

If you do online check in is there a section to make a room request? Should I just call the resort a few day before we arrive???

In our experience from when we've done online check-in, there's always been a place to make room requests.

The ability to do room requests during online check-in is very hit or miss. I would call 407-WDISNEY with any requests. You won't be able to contact anyone at the resort, even if you call the resort number, all calls are routed to a call center. No need to wait till a few days before you arrive, you can do it anytime.

OP, preferred rooms are a separate booking category, not something you can request. You would need to call and change your reservation.

Depending on how busy the resort is, your room will most likely be ready around 1:00pm.

If you request to be upgraded to another category, you will be quoted the rack rate for the room (if there is one available) and you will lose any discounts you may already have. Disney has created a great deal of new categories, since most people have been placing certain requests. Preferred is a new category based on being close to the amentities. People don't mind paying extra for it, so none may be available.

Since you are already paying for the King Bed category, you can always request it, but as stated above, more and more people are willing to pay for the upgrade and those preferred rooms fill up quickly.

I would call CRO and place the requests on your reservation.

There is no way to call the resort directly; you only go to a call center that answers the phone as if they are actually in the resort. They will transfer you to CRO anyway to place requests on your reservation. Save yourself some time and call CRO directly.

A few years ago I was able to fax the resort with my request. It was for Caribbean Beach and I wanted a specific building so about 2 days before we left I faxed them with a polite letter. It worked and I got the building I requested.

Each time i have used online check -in, i was able to check in within a couple of minutes. I have never been able to leave room requests during online check in however. I have called CRO ahead of time to have requests added to my room. IMHO, early arrival and online check in give you the best chance for getting the room that you would like. But its really the luck of the draw.

MY guess is that if you do not book a preferred room, then you will not receive a room that is considered preferred unless that is all they have available and then i believe you would not be charged for it. If you book a preferred room but there are none available when you check-in, then WDW will refund the difference.

The resorts no longer accept faxed room requests.

I just did online check-in a few days ago. The only room request options I was given were 1) Ground level, and 2) Close to transportation. I was not able to get any more specific than that.

I did on-line check in for CBR last week and was able to request a village.

My room was ready at 9:00 am when we arrived. Went very smooth.

About two years ago, Disney installed a new computer system that allows the ressies to roll over directly from CRO and sort the requests for the room assigner.

As stated by a PP, they stopped taking faxes for room requests. There is no need to take them now.

I'm debating whether to do online check-in this trip. We don't arrive until around 8pm and I'm not sure we'd be any more likely to get our requests honored that late in the day.

I checked in on-line today and when asked for room requests a seperate window popped open that said pick one of the following.......BUT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT FOLLOWED:confused3!!

I'll call later today!!

Have a MAGICAL day,

I've never understood the fuss about online check in. We've used it several times and not used it several times, and it was never any faster having used. A couple of times it was slower because the person had to go hunt down our folder..

You might try using a different browser. I couldn't get the online check-in to work at all on Safari, but it worked fine on Firefox.

I always make my building requests at the time I make my reservations, then do on-line check in and I have had very good luck getting those requests :woohoo:

I've never done on line check in, but have had good luck getting my room requests. I make my requests by phone at the time I reserve.
