Hello all -

Going on my very first cruise this May for my birthday and staying at the Poly for the first 3 days - can't tell you how long I've wanted to stay there and how excited I am about this whole experience.

So my questions are - is there a specific view/room type that I should request? How far in advance should I make a room request and how do I go about doing it?

I can't begin to tell you the wealth of info I've learned since finding the DIS boards - I have been here everyday since booking my cruise!!!!!

Thanks for any/all advice

I bumped this cuz I really need the info - I'm new to this so I guess you could call me a newbie.

:D

Hi newbie! We are staying at the Polynesian for the first time this summer. From what I have read, it depends on what your priority is, as to what building would be best for you. The Raratonga bldg. is directly adjacent to the Great Ceremonial House, which is a fancy name for the main building where the gift shops, snack shop, restaurants and lobby are. So if you want to be near these things, that would be a good choice for you. However, if you want to be near the Ticket & Transporation Center, then the Tahiti bldg. or the Rapa Nui bldg., are very close to it, also these bldgs are very close to the beach, if that is important to you. The Hawaii bldg is for concierge guests so unless you are concierge, don't worry about that one. And I suppose you could say that all the others fall somewhere in between. Also, if you want a good site all about the Polynesian, go to www.tikiman2001.com. Good luck - his site is sometimes down, but if you keep trying, it will come back. Excellent pictures and info. After checking out his site, you'll know all about the Polynesian.

The rooms I like best at the Poly are in Tokelau. The #'s are 3911,3912.3914 or 3915. These rooms are GV but they have a view of the Lagoon. I think they have changed the category of 3914 to LV but you might want to ask. Good luck. Have a great time.

Thank you soooooooo much for your replys - this is exactly the information I have been needing - I can't thank you enough for the info!!!
