Room requests at Disneyland Hotel

We are WDW veterans, but this will be our first time as a family at DLR. We are staying at Disneyland Hotel. I was wondering how the process works for requesting a room location? Touring plans has worked so well for us with WDW, but it doesn't appear that is an option with DLR. I don't see a way to do anything with my hotel reservation online either (not even look at it). Will I get the option at check-in time, or is there something I'm missing?

Just call. They’ll attach your room request to your reservation. I then call a few days before to confirm my requests are noted.

Is there possibly an email? I have this weird shyness with talking on the phone but totally will if I have to LOL So embarrassing!

We have faxed requests 2-3 days before and they have noted it on our reservations.
