Room Request--VWL

I'm seeing a lot of posts about room requests. We have never done that. So my questions are--who do we call to request the room and what should we ask for at VWL? We'll be getting a one bedroom. I guess non-smoking is a must. Do you request particular views or anything like that?

If you made reservations on points, MS is the one to contact for room requests. If you made a reservation on cash through CRO, call CRO with your requests. DVC resorts do not accept faxes.

Main resort view at VWL is woods view. A few have a pool view, fewer still have a lake view through the trees.

I never get any of my room requests. I had only one request once, not on the first floor and didn't even get that.

How can you increase your chances, book in early?

If you can get a studio the night before your main stay(2 brm for a week)!?!. Say you fly down with one member of your party the day before, stay at the studio one night, then pre-check in early the next day for your main reservation. Then have the rest of your party show up later in the day or night, after you get what you want. If you pre-check in before 11am, odds are you can get what you want!!!

That is only if the room you want is available from check out the previous night!

We requested lake view last August. They told us there really weren't any good lake views (partially blocked by trees). But, look at a map at check in and ask where they have the rooms available. We ended up with a room on third floor overlooking the DVC pool, view of the lake between the main Wilderness lodge and the trees. And it was right off the atrium by the elevators.

Just request at reservation then ask at check-in to get one that works.
