Room request success rate

How often have you gotten what you requested on your room request? For anyone voting- did you check in early or late?

We have always had our requests met, although we do go offseason & check in early so I am sure that plays a huge part.

Our requests have included: King bed & second floor at the moderates and Zebra Trail at AKL overlooking Arusha Rock.

I must say that when we checked into AKL last year, they did not immediately grant our request. She showed us (on the map) that our room was on the Kudu trail and we politely asked if there was anything available on the Zebra. She checked and said that wouldn't be a problem but we would have to wait a little bit. They are very, very accomodating!!!

We've been to the CBR and only requested a room once. We got the request we wanted. We stayed at the GF and got the request we wanted. However, they were going to put us in a building we didn't want to be in and asked if there was any chance we could get Boca Chica. The CM said sure, but it would take an hour or two for the room to be cleaned so if we didn't mind waiting we could have it. We waited . The original room they assigned to us was ready. We've requested a MK view at the CR 4 times and received it every time. We always check in somewhere between 11am and noon.

The only request I've made was two years ago at the Beach Club. I requested a room with two queen beds and a full balcony. We checked in rather late (8:00 p.m.) and when we got to the room it had two doubles and a small balcony. The good news is that my husband complained to the front desk (we were celebrating my 50th birthday) and we were upgraded to concierge -- which was very nice!!!

You just have to not be afraid to ask for what you want....and then when you arrive and they put you in a crappy room, realize it isn't anything personal and just tell them it wasn't what you had in mind and be friendly about it - AND tell them you are willing to be patient and go have lunch and come back in a couple hours - but we alway get what we put in a request for.....and it has never gotten ugly or anything....
