Hi All,
We are traveling to WDW mid jan for 10 days, from Perth Australia. We will be staying at Kidani (2 bed standard), OKW (2 bed), GFV (2 bed standard) and BWI (1 bed standard).
I really hate noisy rooms, so normally ask for a quiet spot at check in. Do you think I need to request this in advance( TP or otherwise ) ? I am not fussed on views etc.
TIA!

I would request it both in advance and at check-in. Keep in mind that it is only a request. I assume you mean not near an elevator? In all the years I've been staying at Disney resorts we have never had a room where room/hallway noise was not heard at some point.

You absolutely should submit room requests in advance. Call the resort and send an email. Just be aware that requests are just that - there are no guarantees though Guest Services does do their best to accommodate when possible. Quiet rooms will likely be away from the pools, lobby and any activity areas, so you may end up further from transportation and dining. And while they can try and place you in quieter areas, they can't guarantee the quietness of the people in rooms around you - if you do happen to end up in a room next to a rambunctious group, just let Guest Services know and they will do their best to try and move you.

I know many people aren't unreasonable about these things but I always add the disclaimer that a request is just that - not a guarantee - and if GS can't accommodate you that isn't a customer service failure :)

I think if you limit your request to one thing, quiet area, your chances are far better than the requests some guests make with multiple requests, especially in mid January. Also since you are splitting your stay, if you reach your new resort early, and are willing to wait until a quiet room is ready, I think you also may increase your odds. Have a great trip!!!

And the laminate floors in some of the renovated rooms do not contribute to avoiding noise from neighbors.

Yes request it in advance and if you really want to try to ensure you get a quiet spot then don't skip the front desk.
Remind them when you get there that you're hoping for a quiet area.

Although what I have found is if when staying at a value you can hear everything vs when I've stayed at a moderate I literally hear nothing when in my room.
My neighbor could have a screaming child and I wouldn't know it.
I would venture to guess at a deluxe/villa every room is decently quiet.

As others have said, I would call in and note "quiet room" as your first request. You may want to also add "top floor" as a PP recommended as you then won't hear noise from above. On a positive note, we have stayed in 1- and 2-bedroom villas numerous times and have never had noise issues! We've had SO many noise issues in standard rooms that, from here on out, we will probably only book villas.

We stayed at kidani and got the next to last room on our floor. It was a long walk but it was quiet

Thanks for the replies, all! How far in advance should I ring in ?

You can make requests at the time you make your reservation, or anytime after that. Doesn't matter when, though I would try to do it before you get within a week of your check-in date. Rooms are assigned 5-ish days before you arrive.
Thanks! I think Davids already noted it but will ring as well and do in person check in

You jinx it pretty badly requesting a quiet room. If you're superstitious that is.

You could get put in a wing with nothing but French mimes and still have kids jumping up and down on the beds and babies screeching bloody murder.

Ehhhh...not so much....the WORST in room noise I've experienced was both my stays at Kidani. We could hear the guy next door unzip his pants (and every other sound that followed) in one room and the other we heard every noise the 3 yo next door made. The latter trip also included people above us moving the indoor and balcony furniture at all hours.

All my stays in the moderates have been quiet! Hands down SSR (a deluxe) is THE quietest resort.

Haha my last trip a couple months ago at POP I got my sister laughing when I woke her up to have her listen to someone peeing. I've heard plenty of toilets but this was the first time I could clearly h ed ar peeing.
At POR in the royal rooms I say a toddler enter the room next to us and never heard a peep.
I may be staying at Contemporary next year and really hoping its quiet but now you scare me lol.

Haha, too true!

If you must have a quiet room, I would suggest packing some ear plugs. Any hotel room is only as quiet as the neighbors around you. Most of the time I have had good luck, but I have had a few stays where I was so glad when the neighbors left. The worst have been at deluxe resorts, not values. Voices really carry in the hallways at 2:00 am . . .

Yup, they always come with me on holiday.. we live on acreage at home and are not accustomed to people noise. My husband, of course, can sleep through anything. Me not so much.
