When I stay at Poly Or AKL Iknow exactly what to request....staying at BC for the first time and I am not all that familar with the layout. I'm booked in a standard so I know that limits the view but is there anything in particular to request that could be beneficial? Is there a specific area I should ask for? Any opinions on anything would be appreciated!

I would post on the BC/YC thread. You'll get lots of info there. One thing to know, is the hallways are very long. I would ask for a room near lobby elevator.

Definitely ask for near the elevator as some rooms can be rather far out. Another common request is for a full balcony. Only about half the rooms have full balconies while the other half have what I think they call Juliet style balconies. Just enough for one person to stand on.

It depends on what your priorities are. Our typical requests are "close to EP", "quiet room", "full balcony".

I agree with previous posters, you have to decide what's important to you. As you can tell by the maps, it is a very long resort. One end is close to the EPCOT World Showcase entrance, the other side is close to the resort store, restaurants and pool. I can't remember specifically what I asked for when I booked there a couple of years ago, but what I got was a view of the lake and I know I didn't request or pay for that view. I think views at Disney always tend to be luck--sometimes people pay for a certain view and are disappointed; some people pay for standard and end up with a great view. If it were me and I requested a standard view, I'd request as close as possible to EP. Anyway you look at it, you're going to Disney--what could be better!!

We asked for "close to transportation" and had a room near the top of the stairs to the lobby. It was an awesome location.

We are hoping to stay for 16 nights next August and can only afford a standard view - is it likely to be awful? If the room is fine but we don't like the view would it be fair to ask for a room with a nicer view (in the same category) or does that sound a but churlish?

All Standard View rooms have views of either a roof or a parking lot. There isn't really anything better to ask for. I have read reports where folks thought they were fine. Since it is what you are booking I personally would never ask for a different room because I didn't like the view

We just stayed in a standard view # 3711 (we usually do a lagoon view but got a great deal). We were on the third floor and looked out over a long flat roof. There was a peak of a roof mostly in front of us but to the right we could see the pool in a near distance. We could see the upper fireworks from HS at night. The room had a full balcony which is what i really wanted. We had some sunny days where I spent plenty of time reading. I'd prefer the 3rd floor as it appeared there are more full balconies on that floor than on the 4th floor. Good luck!

So, what area is your favorite to request at the Poly? If you request a room close to their great hall and or main pool, then I would request a room at the BC as close as possible to their main lobby/gift shop. If you request a room away from the Poly's Great Hall, and by their quiet pool or the like, then I would suggest a room as far as possible away from their lobby. Now the rooms closest to Epcot might also be a good assignment f you want a quiet location with a walk under 5 minutes to Epcot. We like being close to the main lobby/pool, and our room assigned was down the hall from the gift shop/main lobby and our walk from inside Ecpot (timed from before you branch off to get out of Epcot) to our room door as 9 minutes and 33 seconds, and this was at closing time when we were tired and walking pretty slow.

Wow. You are staying at the BC for 16 nights! What a time you are in for. We stayed at BC for 3 nights this past August (later part of August) and I believe the resort was fully booked. When a resort is fully booked it is more difficult (although not impossible) to do a room reassignment. If you don't like the room you are entitled to ask for a new room assignment based on what would make you happier, but it is not guaranteed that CM can give you a new (better) room assignment. However, I am wondering if you booked with any discount. If you booked at rack rates, keep watching for those discounts. They will (probably) come out. Mousesavers.com is my go to place when I'm looking for WDW discounts to come out as they are always posted on their front page when they come out. You might find you can get a room upgrade (like Garden View) for less than the rack rate, and now you can afford it. Have a great time. I'm very happy for you!

Hi there,

Trip not booked yet as I am from the UK and there are various offers at different times. The 2017 prices should be out any day now where we could have 4 nights free but the offer most of us over here wait for is the end of April release of free dining which would normally cost over £2000 for 2 adults and a teen. Makes the holiday just about affordable without having to sell any body parts although we have had to have a 3 year gap between visits. We stayed on site for the first time at SSR in 2014 and went to Yachtman Steakhouse for a meal - very costly visit ;)

Thanks for the help :dogdance:

That doesn't sound too bad - just didn't want a brick wall 2 inches from our window!
:thanks:
