We checked into BWV last Tuesday morning after flying down from DC on a very early flight. I had checked in on-line and was expecting to check in, get our KTTW cards to use our dining plan for lunch/snacks/dinner, have the kids change into "Florida" clothes in a bathroom then turn in all of our luggage to bell services until we got back from MK later that night. The CM laughed and said, "well, ok, you could do that and I'll switch you to a room that's dirty right now....or you could take the clean one I have right here for you?!" We both laughed and that pretty much made my day. We had a 1BR - no requests.

We dropped our bags, got settled, then headed off for our day at MK!

With all of the comments about rooms not ready for hours and hours, I had prepped my mind for the worst and definitely experienced the best!

Our experience has been that if you check in on anyday but Sunday, you stand a good chance of having a room ready! Enjoy your vacation!

I agree, it can be tough on Sunday, but we have had great luck with our rooms being ready. We usually check in on Thrus, Fri, or Sat and usually check in by 9-11 am. The earlier the better it seems.

Making room location/view requests also can cause a later room ready.

2 Saturdays ago, we arrived at BWV at 11 via ME. Our room was not ready until after 6PM. Then we only got a room because a kind CM said that there was a room nearby the one we were supposed to get that was ready. She gave us that one. It was the worst checkin experience we ever had at BWV. I make no room requests, we were only there for 1 night, we had a Princess Cruise to get on the next day.

Great news for you!

We will be checking in on a Sunday, boo hoo!! And it will be our first DVC stay.

Dreaming of our room being ready by 1pm when we arrive in 16 days....keeping fingers crossed!

Ater a great two week stay at AKV/Treehouses last summer, we moved to BLT for one last night before our flight home. We checking in at around 10AM and were happy to hear our room was ready. I had reserved a 1BR and was suprised to open the door to a beautiful 2-BR room. I was certain that someone had made a mistake and worried that I was being charged extra points for a room I didn't ask for so I made my husband trek down to the desk and try to fix the problem. To my suprise and joy, it was not a mistake, just some wonderful pixie dust! We loved our stay there and our girls really enjoyed having their own room to sleep in.

I've had great luck over the years, our villas (usually 2br) have always been ready before 2pm with the exception of the BWV. At the Boardwalk, I've never gotten in before 5 - 5:30pm. They always tell me they'll text when the room is ready and guess what, I'm still waiting for those texts to come. :lmao: At the BWV, it's best to pop in and ask!

We had a good experience when we had a split stay last year. BCV's had a room ready at like 9 am....even the CM's were amazed, actually was telling the other CM's about it. Apparently it is pretty rare at BCV. We moved to a THV and they had a villa ready for us, but we changed locations to one that wasn't ready and had to wait a bit. The on to BWV and again and we got our room right away! I think getting there early in the morning helps the most, they are more likely to have a vacant room for you to grab.

When thinking about flights, I think most guests arrive in florida between 10-12pm and check ins increase (just my observation, not stats or anything to back it up).

I agree about the text. The last time we were there, we were in the room unpacking when the text came through that our room was ready. I think the worse waits we've ever had would be getting at room at the BCV @ 5:30PM and OKW @ 5:30PM -- both times a 2 bedroom. I agree Sunday checkin are probably the worse days to checkin.

That's great ! Have fun.

I've had a room ready prior to 10 or 11 am only three times. Once at VWL and twice at OKW. Had "section" request at OKW both times. No request at VWL.

Stayed once at BWV (no requests) and didn't get room until 5:30 pm. It was a Thurs for 3 nights.

BLT last May, got room at 5 pm. Had request for "any room above 5th floor".

Also had to wait at SSR for a room last Aug. Had no requests and checked in on a Tues (8/3/10) and room wasn't ready until 5:40 pm.

One of the reasons I was anticipating a wait was that I had called to try to get an extra night on the front end of the trip, and there was no availability. So, I figured they were booked up the night before. Who knows, maybe they didn't sell all of their cash rooms so did have empty rooms. Whatever the reason, it was a nice start. We had a lot of good karma on the rest of the trip, too!

Isn't it great when it works out like that?! On our trip in December we moved from ASMu to AKL-Jambo on a Sunday morning. We took a taxi over and got to AKL a little after 7am (we wanted to get started on our meal plan and get to MK close to the 8am opening). My parents and my family had 2 savanna view studios. My sister and her husband had a value studio. We figured we wouldn't get any of the rooms until later. Believe it or not, my sister was able to get in to her room that early in the morning. And icing on the cake? The got a value studio with a savanna view! Lucky ducks!

We also did online check-in for our trip and although the CM emphasized that it was not because of that, our standard studio room was available at BWV at 11:00AM!!:cool1::banana:

I've had very good luck at having a room ready early in the day at BWV/BWI. In my many stays at the Boardwalk (both Inn and Villas), I've only had to wait once for a room to be ready. And all times, I've checked in between 8-11AM. One of the many reasons I love the Boardwalk. :)

Congrats! Yous mst have had pixiedust: I don't think we've gotten into our room much before 4 more than twice in the last ten years!
