I guess it has been a while..but I thought I remembered rooms for $240 in sept/ oct at the CONTEMPORARY...

I guess those were the good ole days..

it looks like the best I can do is $265 at the WILDERNESS LODGE...in early september....

can someone fill me in...has it been that long since I visited the WORLD!?

:confused3

It's just a little too early yet for any discount codes for September.:goodvibes

For example, this offer came out at the end of last May:

*THIS OFFER IS NOW EXPIRED*

Late Summer Savings at Walt Disney World Resorts

Stay dates: 8/14/11-10/1/11. Get a significant discount off regular "Rack" rates at Disney's resorts. Rates below are for Sunday-Thursday stays: weekend rates are higher. Rates will vary for 9/30/11-10/1/11. Rates not available for all dates and resorts.

Value resorts, standard room, $69
Moderate resorts, standard room, $129
Deluxe resorts, standard room, $189
Deluxe Villa resorts, Studio, $209

Good luck and hope a deal opens up for you (and you can stand the wait until then :upsidedow)

thanks for reminding me, waiting does pay off...I think I will hold off....but I wonder if I jump on the FREE dining ( would that come first) or something like deeply discounted rooms like you mention ( $189 for a deluxe..WOW! )

With free dining you pay rack rate for room, so it would depend on how many you are whether free dining or room discount is better.
I would opt for room discount, at deluxe.
We went without DDP this past Jan, and felt we did fine. All but 2 nights we ate TS, and it was cheaper then DDP. IMO the DDP isn't the deal it used to be, with increased pricing, and less on it. When we first had DDP tips and appie were included. Now, no tip or Appie, and the price is creeping up.

I'd look at the menus on Allears, and price out how much per day you think you'd spend on meals vs the $52/day DDP to see what works best for you.

We stayed at WL with 40% AP discount this Jan for $159 a night.

thanks for this insight, yeah, I think I will take the room discount as well..., I did free dining one year, I felt like a glutton! I..dont get me wrong I like to eat... but I found I was eating even more with all the credits....

Me too. So without DDP, my daughter & I shared a dessert if there was something that looked good. And we didn't need a dessert at every lunch. We ordered water instead of drinks with meals. Neither of us is much of a pop drinker. And with some meals we could share- the pasta at POR is huge portion, and Sci Fi we shared a shake, and could have shared the sandwiches, had we known how large they were. One day because we had an late lunch at Saana, we just shared an order of eggrolls, and fried rice at the Y&Y CS for an early snack. And had a light dinner at a CS.
We ate well, and cheaper then the DDP. So think we're done with DDP.

This is just a theory, but during the last couple years the deep discounts seem to have pushed rack rates higher to compensate. Now that the deep discounts are waning, we're stuck with the (to me) outrageously high rack, and have to start from a higher rate with a lesser discount. Tough to book the same room at a significantly higher rate than what we booked just a few months ago!

Sue M, we have found the same to be true for us, the DDP comes out higher cost and less flexibility. DD and I often share entrees, sometimes get only appetizers, and rarely eat dessert or, if we do, share a dessert. Not the best model for the DDP, and since we usually book deluxe and often have only the 2 of us, the room discount is the far better choice over free dining.
