Room rates vary by party size?

So I know a lot of hotel chains vary the rate based on the number of adults in the room but I don’t remember Disney doing that but maybe I just never encountered it when my kids were under the 18. But looking at rates I noticed a difference in price for 2 adults vs 3. Was it always that way?

Yes, I don’t remember the amount, but how much depends on whether it’s value, moderate or deluxe.

It's like $15/value $25/mod and $35/deluxe extra per adult, per night, over the first two adults. And I think you have to add tax to that so it's a little more.

As PPs have mentioned, there is an extra cost when you have more than 2 adults in the room.

But the room cost for 2 adults is the same as the room cost for 1 adult. I mention this because many years ago I was booking a solo trip and a local travel agent told me that the cost would be more because I was going alone. I said she was wrong. She said, "Oh, we always quote per person double occupancy, so that means your cost is more." Well, maybe if I had been planning to travel with someone and we each were going to pay for half the room cost with our own money. But the cost of the room is the cost of the room if it's 1 adult or 2 adults.

An adult is considered anyone 18 or older.

yes

edit - I should add that is adult age for extra adults in a room. Adult age for tickets and dining is 10 and up (mostly just an issue with dining is for all you can eat/character experiences/ dining plan when they was a thing)

I remember being frustrated by this change 9 years ago when my oldest turned 18. It’s annoying for sure, but apparently it’s not uncommon in hotels.

Hope you have a great trip!

Disney only sells tickets as Guests 3-9 and Guests 10+, not adult and child. Same with dining.
