Yahoo!!

Well, I finally did it, I went and booked our first Disney cruise!!!! (2/26/05 Wonder 3night). I have been pouring over these boards, so I guess it made sense to register.
I have a TON of questions...but I'll start with one...with sub-categories : )

Booked 2 rooms, category 8 (7504/7506). There are 5 of us, and the thought of us all sharing 1 bathroom was not a happy one (LOL).
Does anyone have any information on these rooms/location/pros/cons/etc?
Is there an upper berth in these rooms? With a sofa, I can't figure out how they sleep 4...
What is the beverage cooler like? (I need my water cold)
Will my hair dryer plug into the plug? I have heard some info. about extension cords/kinda confused. (silly question?)
Is the sofa next to the porthole, or the bed?
Is the porthole really big?
Any info would be greatly appreciated!!
Thank you!!

:D

I don't know how you booked a 3 night for 2-26-05 that is a saturday and the magic leaves on saturday for 7 nights. A 3 nighter would be leaving on 17th or the 24th of Feb 05. Now here is some info for you to think about. If you booked a 3 nighter for the 24th, for just a tad more than a $100 a room you could book your 2 cat 8 rooms on a 4 nighter leaving on 2-27-05, something to think about. You get another night on the ship for the 5 of you for a little over $40 a person, you can not beat that. I would strongly think about that if your travel plans can accomadate that. If you need nore info about this feel free to pm me or email me.

oops!
We leave on the 24th (Wonder)
We purposely didn't book the 4 night for a number of reasons:
Time constraints-we will be visiting family immediately before the cruise, and we need to be home on 2/29 for school (-not just for the boys--I'm a teacher).
My son gets motion sickness VERY easily, we need a test run. If all goes well, we will be planning a 7 night in 2006!!
Thanks for you thoughts though!

Can't answer your questions because I am anxoiusly awaiting our 1st Disney Cruise, but I wanted to say welcome to the boards!!!

I know these good folks will answer all of your questions. They have been such a help to me!!!

Welcome aboard Sue!!

I have never stayed in these rooms do don't have any info on them. Over the sofa in many rooms there is a pulldown bunk. You can ask DCL if you have one of those types. The room steward takes care of the bunk (pulls it down, puts it away...). They beverage cooler is mildly cool - have your room steward keep your ice bucket full! The blow dryer won't plug in in the bathroom (there is a basically useless blowdryer in there already). To plug in the blow dryer you need to go out in the room. I plugged my in by the tv and blow dried my hair in front of the desk area. The sofa faces the tv and the porthole is to the side of them (if this makes sense). The bed is on the other side of the sofa and the desk with the tv. Also - keep in mind for your children the big bed can be made into two twin beds. The porthole is a nice large one. Plenty of sunshine. Hope this helps. Have fun!

About your porthole questions:
Yes, they a pretty large. My daughter was 6 and could almost stand in it.
The portholes are by the sofas. When you first walk in the room your bathroon is there, then your bed and at the end of the room is your sofa, table, tv and porthole.
If you do not have the DVD yet I would highly recommend calling DCL and getting one. They have tons of information and 360 views of all the different catagorys of rooms. They are interactive and very fun.

Welcome to our cruising world of Dis!!
The beverage cooler will keep your water cold... at least ours did. I was very surprised at how well it worked. I took 3 bottles of water with us and then just refilled them at the beverage station on deck 9, along with our mugs we bought in Mickey's Mates. The water tasted fine.

and you may want to check your calendar one more time, there is no 2/29 next year....... 2/29 won't be back until 2008.

It must be the excitement-we need to be home on the 28th for school. I don't know why I can't seem to read our calendar. We leave on the 24th, dock on the 27th, and fly home the 27th to be home for school on the next day (28th).
Phew! ALl I know is I am going on a Disney Cruise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sue did u get the planning dvd on the official disney cruise site???

and did u book cat 8 for a certain reason ??

Hi-
We booked cat 8 for the location on the ship. It also seemed to be a mid-point between a veranda and the lowest rooms.
Yes, I have ordered the DVD, but it hasn't arrived yet.
