I have reservations at POFQ for Jan 1 then our package starts on the 2nd. Do they normally keep you in the same room? I know I have to check in on the 2nd for the package but wasn't sure if we have to switch rooms. In doing this should I not use online check in so that I can speak to a CM to make sure we won't have to change rooms? or do online check in and just make it a request to be kept in the same room. Also another question, I've read the we could get our tickets for the package early, would I be able to do that at POFQ or are the odds better to go to a park and try to go it?

Thanks for your responses.

I have done this the last three trips.

Be open, because once I did move the next day, because it was a fabulous room. But mostly they will keep you in the same room.

You just "link" your reservations and then reiterate you don't want to move at the check-in desk.

But if they offer you a better room for your package, take it!

Thank you for the info - I will be open - especially if it means a better room. :cool1: Thanks

Missytara - were you able to get your tickets a day early?

Yep!

You go to Guest Relations at the parks; then when you return to the resort, have the concierge desk add them on your KTTW card.

i'm just curious-why have a room only reservation then a package deal immediately afterwards?

why doesn't your package include all days-what are the benefits in doing this? :goodvibes

Because the package doesn't start until January 2nd but we are going to be arriving there 1 day early.

We have run into this when a package discount say starts on Dec 1st, but we can save big $$ on airfare by flying in on November 30th. We book a room only for the 30th.:thumbsup2

Sorry dmdelight - I meant to say that the Disney Visa free dining package is only valid for a portion of the time that we will be there. We are arriving on the 1st and it's not good on that date - thus a room only reservation for the 1st and our package is Jan 2-7. I bought the 6 day tickets with it hoping to be able to use the ticket only part on the first (you can't use the free dining until I check in on the package on the 2nd)

Depends on the discounts.

I arrive the Saturday after Thanksgiving, so that I can return on the following Saturday as late as possible and still have Sunday to rest before returning to work.

The discounts don't start until Sunday, when the holiday is over.

It is the risk you take being able to start your trip a little earlier and have a day to catch up before reality sets in.

dansdad and peca,

thanks for replies. so you could have chosen any hotel/resort as they are totally separate bookings? :)

so simply chose the same hotel in order to spend whole vacation at the same resort? :goodvibes

I had thought about staying at a value the first night but I am traveling with my 4 year old grandson and I would just soon get settled into one resort. It wasn't worth it for me to save a few bucks to move resorts. If I do end up having to change rooms at least it's at the same resort and I don't have to travel all over the "world" and waste time moving.

also dmdelight I chose the same room type (Garden View) to enhance my chances of staying in the same room for both reservation. Garden View was all that was available when I booked the package so I didn't want to book a standard view and take the chance

I am glad I found this thread as I had the same concern as the OP :thumbsup2 If we do a room only reservation before a package reservation at the same resort, I would also prefer to stay in the same room(s) if at all possible for the sake of convenience.
