Room only discount code club

Do you think a room only discount will come out for Nov? Planning on going Nov. 9-13. It seems like Disney is blacking out week of "Jersey week."

It is blacked out for free dining, but in the past Jersey Week has not been blacked out for the room only discounts. I'm going that week too and keeping my fingers crossed!

My mom got a PIN via snail mail today: 25% off Values & Moderates, 35% off Deluxe & Deluxe villas most dates 9/18-11/18 & 11/26-12/22. Book by 10/7. So there is still hope!!

I agree that free dining going away would be a huge help but my favorite resort never seems to sell out so it isn't an issue.

Ohh what was the mail for in general? Anything specific so I can look out for something!?

To be honest, I haven't seen it, but she said it was one of those cards that is folded in half and sealed. On the inside it's got a picture of each of the 4 types with the % for that type. Sorry I can't be more descriptive than that.

Can I ask a stupid question? I have a package booked for May 2012 but since it's deluxe I would love a discount. If one comes out, I will have to change my package to a RO discount, right? Can I still book tickets and Magical Express through Disney if I do that? I know I can't have free dining and RO discount.

Has anyone been to a value for a may 12 through the 19th and gootten any kind of room discount? I have been several times and I have never gotten anykind of discount..I really need something this year...

No. Usually you can use a room-only discount for a package. It's called "room-only" so that you understand that the discount is on the room charge only; you pay full price for dining and tickets.

Magical Express has nothing to do with dining. If you are staying at a Disney hotel, you can take ME.

Yes, you can still book tickets separately. ME comes with all resort rooms; it's not a package perk. You can also add on the dining plan separetly if you wanted, but you'd have to pay full price.

Also, be warned that you may have to change room type or even resort, depending on the availability of the RO discount for the room you have booked.

Okay, so another newbie to all of this...we're booked at POFQ Dec. 19-23rd and already had our plane tix booked, so FD was not an option for us. Changing the tickets was the amount we'd be saving with FD.

Right now we're booked with a package with room and tickets. Here are my questions:

If we use a room only discount, do we have to change our reservation and buy tickets separately? Or can they just apply the discount to the room?

If we already have a room booked would we possibly be forced to switch resorts, or do we get to keep the one we have? I'd be open to it, but honestly I really don't want to!

TIA for the help! :)

Oh, and if you book your room separately from your tickets, can you still have your room key and ticket access on one card? The whole "keys to the world" thing? Still trying to get the hang of this :)

Thanks to you and the PP! I am still praying for a room only discount that will allow me to stay at BC but it seems like many of the deluxe discounts are historically for WL or AKL. I've got a hankering for an Epcot resort with an awesome pool though!!

So I was thinking about booking a mini va-cay in Early February. If RO discounts are announced, are they only for the remainder of 2011? I may not even go to the parks. Just a trip to get away from a Pennsylvania winter ... to see the sun!

If there is availability for your dates at POFQ the CM will be able to "apply" it to your reservation. If your resort of choice is not available for your dates the CM can tell you what resorts are available so it is good to have a 2nd and 3rd choice etc in mind before you call.

There was a great post by Incognito on the FD thread. But basically they put a percentage of bookings on each resort/room type. Once ressies hit that percentage for that date(s) there are no longer any discounts available. If there are cancellations and the number of bookings drop, it becomes available again. It is also possible, but I think not too common, for an entire resort to be blocked out of the discount from the start.

So even if you have a room booked, you may not be able to get a discount on it, depending on the percentage. Switching room types or eskers may enable you to get the discount. But there is no way to predict and it could change from day to day. Our last two trips we booked after discounts were already released. We got a 25% discount on ASMu Family suite 5 days out. On our next trip we couldn't get the 40% on BLT at 2 months out but we had no trouble on a 1 bedroom at BWV. (Which ended up working out better than being on the monorail anyway.) this time we're being very flexible. Our main goal is to be on the Boardwalk, any resort. But we have a max price we're willing to spend to do it. If that doesn't work out, we'll go to a Mod. We have not booked at all yet though. There's no point for us because it's the discount that matters most on this trip as to where we end up.
