Hi everyone,

I'll be staying at the Polynesian this December (for our first trip ever!). I've only booked a garden view room, and I was wondering if I should request third floor (if possible) to avoid the peole over your head noise? Is it necessary? Can you hear much noise from the rooms above you or on either side?

I always request a first floor room :Pinkbounc (we've been in Hawaii twice and Samoa once) and never found noise to be an issue! :rotfl:

We've always been on the first floor as well....somewhere around 30 visits now....and overhead noise has never been an issue for us either.

I don't remember hearing any noise either and we would go back for naps for my daughter who was two at the time. :goodvibes :umbrella: :cloud9: ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo princess: princess: (my daughter picked the icons- don't ask why these particular ones)

This is good to hear. We too will be at the Poly in December for our first WDW trip. Can't wait!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

We were in a third floor room in Fiji in February. The Loud Family was next door to us for one day and one night. But, we could only hear them when we were both on our patios and when they opened their door to the hall. Otherwise, it was fine -- we even had a door connecting our room to theirs that was not an issue. I found Poly to be among the quietest hotels we've stayed at.

ps to tiggersthebest: I have a DD who likes to choose my smilies, too. Never a rhyme or reason. I'm just glad she shares my passion for Disney and these boards.

The Poly was constructed similar to a large cruise ship. That is, the rooms were all pre-constructed offsite from WDW, then trucked to the Poly location and hauled into place with cranes. Check Tikiman's website for pics of the construction. Very interesting. It sort of limits changing the rooms much, since the walls are so sturdy. I bet that may be why high speed internet hasn't made it to Poly's rooms yet. However, this also mean that Poly's rooms are much, much quieter than most of the other, more recent Disney resorts, with their standard drywall construction and paper-thin walls.

What a coincidence...the Loud Family stayed next to us one visit, too :)
That was probably the noisiest room I have ever had at a Disney hotel. We had a 2nd floor room on the end (right by the stairs) and our room connected with the Loud's. Between the thumping up and down the stairs and the verbose neighbors, we didn't have much peace in our room. Didn't notice any overhead noise, though...maybe the Loud Family drowned them out :)

We stayed 1st floor and 3rd floor. I don't ever remember hearing ANY noise from above or next to me. The only noise I heard where kids running up and down the halls screaming and then their parents YELLING at them to be quiet :rotfl2: Seriously, besides hallway noise - there wasn't any.

We checked in 36 hrs. after Hurricane Charlie last summer, and when we arrived there were good sized downed trees and limbs all around in the area generally outside our room (1st floor Tokeleau). Got up the next morning and they were just finishing up clearing them away - WITH CHAIN SAWS and we never heard a thing :cool1: ! At that point I became a big believer in the quality of sound proofing at the Poly! HTH....
