Looking at the possibility of making advanced room location requests. I think I am correct in saying that Disney resorts assign the rooms 72 hours prior to arrival ? When making a request, do I just call the standard Disney customer service line or the resort itself ? If I am in multiple, consecutive Disney resorts, can I use the reception in the hotel I am in at that time, to request a room in the resort I move to a couple of days later ?
Thanks

You can call and make requests. Call and have then noted for each resort. Disney does pre-assign rooms a few days out, but even then they can change things around. I've learned to not expect any of my requests to be met. I'm only about 50/50 for getting them.

The number you call that claims to be the resort IS standard Disney CS. You can't get a number to the resort. With some amount of effort you may get someone to transfer you to the resort but it's not necessary.
And yes, they do assign rooms about 72 hours out.
I've had interactions with room assigners for my past 2 stays, where they called or emailed me regarding my stay and both times this occurred about 72 hours prior to check in, when they started to work on our room assignment.
So yes, put your request in any point prior to that.

Angi.....to be clear, are you saying you contacted the regular Disney CS before the 72 hour period ? .....and they in turn contacted you at the 72 hours mark to confirm your requested location ? Thanks

Just my opinion but I'd make sure to call in your requests before 3 days out. It's not a hard and fast rule that rooms are assigned right at 3 days, could be more/less. Sometimes best to just go ahead and call them in so you don't forget later.

Also it's not common to be contacted by a room assignor. That has happened to me before, but it's rare. I would not expect any sort of call.

I did not contact them. I use the touring Plans room request service
I was contacted both times for specific reasons related to my requests
They were both unusual situations that would not ordinarily occur
Not issues in any way just requests that caused question that I needed to answer
