I don't see why some people are taking such a self riteous tone with responding to this question.

...

And ya know what, if the resort wasn't accommodating I would maybe even try to do it anyway. If you get bounced, you get bounced. :teeth:

Its not about personal opinion on pool hopping. The fact is that Disney states pool hopping is not allowed. End of story. Just because you don't agree with a particular rule (law also for that matter) does not mean you have the right to break it. I really hope we are not teaching our children that if they don't agree with a rule they can break it and see what happens.

Are you no longer allowed to visit friends and family staying at Disney?
Of course you can visit them. You can visit them at the resort lobby, you can visit them in their room, you can visit them at the pool bar and you can visit them at the restaurants. You can meet up at the parks or at downtown disney or any restuarants. But to use the pool that you're not staying at, then that is a different story.

Law? Maybe I am being naive but where in the Federal law books does it say that you cant go to another pool to be with friends on Disney property? I must have missed that one too. I would say that if you are staying and paying their prices and you choose to visit family and have fun in that pool rather than swim on your own and be bored, GO FOR IT!!

Talk about a straw man. You're the only one who talked about a Federal law. The poster talked about a posted Disney rule. I'd assume a pool crasher might be violating a local law regarding trespassing but no one in this thread, including myself, is making that point.

The problem with OP is he said he's not talking about pool hopping but that's the exact point that was being made.

I agree a CM will probably let one extra guest slide but I'll repeat my unanswered question. How many extra non-resort guests should a hotel guest be allowed to bring into a gated themed pool?

I didn't say a thing about personal opinion, I said that some people were taking what seemed to be a "self riteous tone" to their comments. Of course Disney has their rules and you agree to abide by those rules when they extend to you the privilege to stay on their property and to utilize their facilities. I'm just trying to say everything is not black and white. It's not a hard and fast rule that someone outside of guest staying at a particular hotel can use the pool area because Disney has broken, bended, whatever you want to call it, in the past for various situations. The OP's situation may just be one of them.. who knows.

Some comments, at least in my opinion, made it seem like the OP was some horrid "rule breaker," just for asking the question and that's not right. I objected to the "tone" of some of the comments, not the opinions themselves.

Holy Cow! I'll have to remember to say three extra acts of contrission at bed time! I guess what I meant by saying I'm not promoting pool hopping is that I don't have four kids that I plan to pack up and hit BC one day and BWI then Poly, etc. When I hear pool hopping that's what I think. The last time I stayed at Yacht we never even needed to show a key, so I was wondering how it worked. And I do get everyone's point if you are paying $300 a night for a room and someone else is paying $75...it's not fair, to crash your pool. So I appologize for getting everyone feathers ruffled. You will never hear me mention "pool" "crash" "hop" or any form of those words such as "ol" "op" "sh", again!

Kay? So can we all kiss and make up?

And I hope you're not teaching them English. It should read..."teaching our children."

There is such a thing as an honest mistake and a typo. I know what it should have said; however I typed quickly and made a minor mistake. It doesn't change the point however.

I hope you didn't register simply to make that comment. If you did then I feel very sorry for you.

I never said it was against the law. I said it was against the rules. I then went on to say that it is not OK to break a rule or a law simply because you don't agree with it.

Yes rules are black and white. The rule states you can't do it. If you do it anyway you are breaking the rule. It’s as simple as that. If Disney wants to make an exception that is up to them as it is their rule.

If my children go to visit my dparents who are staying at the Ritz in Boston, do you think they will be able to swim in the hotel pool? Of course they will, even though they are not registered guests and it is against the rules.

I think this is the same type of situation. There are always exceptions to the rules and Disney makes exceptions all the time. When your family checks in, have them ask what they need to do to have you visit and use SAB.

When the FW pool is too cold for my dm (in January), the CM's always give her a pass for the WL.

I agree the rules are there to keep the more popular pools from getting too congested, but sometimes we get a little carried away when discussing them.

Yes...you caught me, I registered just so I can point out typos. It's a dirty job, but somebody has to do it!!!

Actually, I joined the board because I'm excited about my upcoming trip and wanted to chat with other people who share that same excitement. The board has been very helpful in planning the trip and the members have been most welcoming. Today, unfortunately the board has lost a little of the MAGIC.

Disney rules, like many rules (not to be confused with laws) are seldom black and white . Just have your relatives go up to the desk and ask to speak to the manager. He's the person who gets to decide if he wants to allow this rule to be broken, not a Disney board. He'll decide based on the crowds that day. And if a CM gives you permission, they are giving it, based on how he (or Disney) has trained them.
We have visited at pools at many hotels and campgrounds, with relatives and friends, and they have visited us. It's relaxing, the kids are easy to keep an eye on. Sometimes the people visiting us are not even staying on property, but live in the area, and we have always been told yes, with a smile.
If the pool is too crowded, and it would cause a problem, he'll be the one to let you know.
I never understand why people ask this on these boards, when it's so much easier to just ask the person who "holds the keys" and helps decide what will work for his resort.

Seriously?

I have stayed at hotels around the country that are far less expensive than the ritz and most check resort ID to make sure you are a resort guest.

Also you made the point in your own post. You said "When the FW pool is too cold for my dm (in January), the CM's always give her a pass for the WL." Thus you had permission. I am not saying the OP would not be allowed to swim in SAB. What I am saying is that you should not break the rule, if you had permission as your DM did then you are not breaking the rule.

We travel often, and have never been "carded" at a pool..cheap or expensive. But even if I had been, I would have said they were our guests. In this case, I don't think the OP meant she was going to sneak in..I didn't get that impression at all.

WOW such heat for wanting to swim in a pool? are we serious? so what happened to Disney MAgic, paying it forward, or not judging until you walk in someone elses shoes? im sure we could debate everything that goes on in disney. and as far as disney extending us a privelidge to stay on site, i feel it is thiers to have us there, and our money. I cant see a CM scolding family members for visiting, unless of course they put up a tent and start to BBQ right there at the pool ;)

I think the reason these discussions get passionate or heated is as stated it truly is not the call of anyone on these forums.

The rules are very simple, The Pool is for the "exclusive use of registered guests of the Yacht and Beach only". It is up to the staff at the resort to determine if that usage includes allowing someone staying there to bring a guest. It is not up to anyone on this forum to state, go ahead who cares. Many do care. I care. I don't have a problem with a guest asking the staff. The staff knows better than anyone if an additional guest will present a problem. They are the only ones who will know what the occupancy for the resort is that day and how crowded the pool is at that particular time.

The problem is after stating the rules you have those who will always, say ignore it and do what you want. Probably those people have not stayed at this resort or plan to, so they could care less.

I agree, although I have been "carded" at SAB. FWIW, when I think of "pool hopping" I imagine a family of 4 leaving their resort or the parks to swim in another resort because they like the facilities better or because it is closer to the parks.

I got the impression that the OP just wants to swim/visit her neice/nephews, if she can great and if she can't then they can do something else.

Having had relatives visit WDW at the same time we did I understand the logistics as well as how difficult it can be to just get together to swim and relax. I don't advocate breaking the rules so luckily my sil is DVC and it wasn't a problem for us.

If the OP can get on the room roster with her sil or a visitors pass then great, they can swim, if not they will have to visit elsewhere.

No need to question values or motive - just answer a question perhaps.

I've been asked for a room key at SAB. Some of the hotels in Vegas go so far as to swipe the room key to make sure it's not an old key.

I suspect a family of 4 who ask nicely will be given permission to have one family member as a guest 99% of the time BUT

that's not what the OP asked, re-read the post. OP said he wasn't going to pool hop but wanted to know if every member of the party had to show a room key.

Asking if he could get away with sneaking in is exactly the question that was asked.
