I'll be traveling with husband and 3 children ages 4, 6 and 8, sharing a room in hotels outside of disney has never been a problem, is it true that 4 occupants is the limit for the pop century.....we cannot afford a moderate, 2 value resort rooms or the family suites at the asm at this time, we really want to stay on site with the free dining plan....any suggestions

Sorry to say, yes you are out of luck than. 4 (unless one is under 3 years old) is the limit at the Value non-suite rooms.

We also have the same situation as you. I have 3 daughters and have always had to stay at Deluxe resorts when booking a package through Disney. If money is tight, maybe you could cut back on the number of days on your Tickets, and then stay at POR. There are a ton of things to do outside of the parks, ie Downtown Disney, Boardwalk, Resort Hopping.

I really don't know of a way to get around this without costing more money. Even if you booked the package with just 4 people and bought the 5th persons ticket seperate, it would still cost you more because you wouldn't get the free dining for that person.

How many nights did you plan on staying and when?

Some options:

POR has some rooms that will "legally" allow 5 guests.. Not the Pop, but with free dining, not too bad.

Also, I thought that there were some family suites at one of the All stars? Still more $$$ though.

My family of 5 stayed at the Pop last year in connecting rooms. It was wonderful! My DH & I got a king bed, and the kids had the next room with their own TV, and more importantly, their own bathroom!!! It made life easier at bathtime too!!

Enjoy, whatever your decision!

Another, even cheaper option: Tent-camping at Fort Wilderness. It's not for everyone (I know it's not for ME) but the maximum number of Guests at a single campsite is ten; and depending when you go, it's as cheap as $35 a night. Also, check Disney's website - you may be able to rent a tent; or maybe you can borrow camping equipment from friends?

I was sort of wondering a similar problem. Can you book for 4 people and just buy extra park tickets for a 5th person and have all 5 in your room for 4? Does Disney check on this?

My kids always sleep in sleeping bags on the floor whenever we stay in hotels, so it isn't like we need a bed for every person.

Also, if only the 4 perople got the dining plan that should still be plenty of food to share between 5 or just pay OOP for one child.

Since each person doing the whole EMH needs their own pass, you'd be out one person.

Even though your children are small (in size) I would seriously consider the 2 room or suite option. I LOVE the values and stay there often, Bu I cannot imagine 5 warm, squirming bodies in a room that size.

We went with 3 teenagers and got two rooms at AS, worth every peeny for the two bathrooms.

If you're planning to use Magical Express from the airport, you have to have a ticket for each person. Those tickets are determined by the number of resort guests, so you would be one short if you tried to "sneak" an extra person in your room. We're shelling out for two rooms at POP.

Even if you weren't using Magical Express and you did "sneek" a 5th person into your room, it wouldn't save you much money. POR is about $50 more per night than Value resorts, but the Out of pocket expense for that 5th person to dine would be close to that everyday. You might save $10-$20 per night. It's worth it to stay at POR and be more comfortable and not have the headache of wondering how you are going to do each meal.

Also, I was told that everyone in your party has to stay for the same amount of days and have the same type of tickets.

My mom & I are going for 7 days in Sept. I thought if my husband could get away for a couple of days to join us that would be fun. Only way for him to be added on was either room only $10/night. or if we added him to the package he has to book the 7 days with us and I booked 7 day hopper tickets.. (can't because he is working and could only do 3)

About 4 or 5 yrs ago before Disney went to MYW passes, I had a client contact me wanting to stay at one of the All Star hotels. I know her well and know she has 4 children. At the time time I think her two oldest daughters were 16 and 14, her youngest 2 children were 6 and 4. I told her they'd have to get 2 rooms or perhaps one of the cabins at WL. She said they were going to go w/her parents, her sister, her BIL and their 3 kids and would "somehow" work it out for her family to have only 1 room. I booked the pkg for Mom, Dad and 2 older daughters, then GrandMa, Grandpa w/2 kids, and another room w/Sis and BIL and 2 kids....that still left one child out which they didn't claim. She said the younger kids slept w/her half the time anyway and she'd buy a seperate ticket for her youngest.
This REALLY bothered me alot b/c I felt what they were doing was "illegal". I was very tempted to call the hotel and report them but never did. As far as I know they never got caught having an extra child. Since then she has asked me to make other reservations for her at different places but I have told her no b/c she refuses to get the correct number of rooms, beds, or whatever the case may be.
If there is anyway you can swing it, go ahead and get POR. It's a beautiful resort and you'll be happy that you did! :goodvibes

LImom, welcome... from another LI Mom :)

i would seriously consider upgrading to POR... maybe you can find another way to cut corners that would make it possible... i.e. how are you getting to the airport? instead of car service or parking, perhaps you could have a friend drive you... or maybe buy some souvies on sale at the disney store and put some of that money towards the upgraded room? get a disney visa and start earning points (look for the best sign-on deal, sometimes they offer $50 rewards instead of $25)... sell a few things on ebay to earn the extra cash... last but not least, and i'm totally j/k here... leave your husband home ;)
