I have res at All Star Movies. Originally just myself and 3 kids. Now hubby want to come. Is it ok for him to stay in our room with us? We have 1 dbl and 1 king. Plenty of room. We have ticketless dining plan for 4 but if he accompanies us to dinner we will just pay for his. He does not go into the parks due to health reasons. He would mostly just be in the room watching TV while we are out.

How old are the kids? If everyone is 3 or older, than no. You can only have 4 people age 3 or more in a value room.

I am a bit confused by you saying you have a king and a double. Is that something new they are offering? I can't find a mention of it, only of rooms with 2 doubles or a king bed.

The cheapest option would be to book another room at the Sports. The next cheapest would be a family suite at the Music. Room occupancy is not something Disney has any give on at all.

So if a family of 5 can't stay in ANY value resorts, they are punished and must pay the higher rate for a moderate. Doesn't seem quite right.

Unfortunately that is the way it is. The rooms are smaller, so the occupancy is smaller. Along with other things that determine fire code and how many guests can be in a room.

Oh, and the only moderates that allow 5 are POR and CBR. One room at any of those would be cheaper than 2 values.

The value rooms are tiny. It would be pretty squished to have 5 people in one. I would not even highly recommend it in a moderate resort.

And just to warn you ahead of time, if you try to add him it won't be allowed. And if you try to have him just sneak in you are risking being told you have to leave the resort. That is how serious Disney is about room occupancy. You didn't mention doing it, but if it crosses your mind don't do it.

It's not a punishment at all. Disney simply hasn't built their value resorts to hold more than 4 people (with the exception of the family suites as noted).

In your situation, you may find that staying offsite is better, cost-wise, for your family.

Everyone chooses their family size for different reasons. But you then have to be prepared to make decisions based on that size.

That must be a typo on the website. I believe it should say 1 king OR 1 double like the preferred room listing says. There aren't any handicapped rooms with that bed layout (1 king + 1 double) because the rooms have a path for wheelchair. If you need a room for 4 people (2 double beds is the only option) you probably don't have that booked at this point. You should call and straighten it out ASAP.

It isn't punishment. Just as you wouldn't expect to feed 5 people at the same cost as 4, fly 5 people for the same cost of 4, or stuff 5 people consistently into a car that is a little squeezed with 4, you are going to pay more for more space with 5.

The resorts that sleep 5 have 314+ square foot rooms (314 at CBR/POR, and 375+ at the deluxe that sleep 5). A Value resort room is 260 square feet.

Sorry. Resort is all star sports not movies::

Even if you have an accessible room with one king and one double, it still only sleeps 4. If you now possibly have 5 people going on the trip, I would highly suggest looking at a mod that sleeps 5.

If your husband is going to be staying in the room the whole time, you'd be better off in a value suite anyway. He could sit on the couch and watch TV instead of sitting/lying on the bed.
