I know most of you like free dining better but since it is just me and my 8 year old I would rather have a room discount :) I notice Disney has been pretty consistent with the 30% off rooms this year. What are the odds they will do that for October? Of course I need it during the free dining blackout dates since that is fall break :) LOL

Thanks!

Bumping, to see if anyone can give us hope for a room-only in October.

Myfamily and I are hoping for the room discount as well. I did look up the historical times released and it seems last week of July to mid August is when they release the discounts, if any, for October. I dont like when reminded that I have to wait so long, but I still check the sites everyday. Habit and hope.

I do wish my Disney Visa would produce more discounts. :rolleyes1

I'm right here with you :) Our dates are blocked off for FD :sad1: I so hope they arent blocked off from room discounts :confused3

We are waiting as well. Just booked at Pop for October. No free dining during our dates. Hoping a room only will come out. Rumor I heard was IF room only discounts are offered for October we should hear in August. :confused3

Does anyone have any idea if the room discount dates will be the same as the FD ?
I really do not know why they would block out the week of the 14th anyway. Maybe they wont book very many rooms and change their mind on blocking it off:rotfl:

Does anyone know what the dates were for last year? Maybe we can compare.

What's up with the FD black-out dates? I guess I don't quite understand them. How do you know they are blacked-out, or are they specifically for DVC or something?

I posted a new thread asking if the FD and room discounts were the same last year in October. Hoping someone knows the blockout dates for last year.

We already bought our tickets through the YES program, so we wouldnt be eligible for the FD (even if it wasnt blacked out the week we are going) since we wont be purchasing a package, so I am really hoping for a room discount. We do currently have a room booked with the AAA discount, which is decent (I believe 20% off) but I am hoping that a 30% off discount offer becomes available.

I posted a new thread asking if the FD and room discounts were the same last year in October. Hoping someone knows the blockout dates for last year.

Last year there were no October blackout dates for stays starting after October 3, but only because the deals offered (besides FD) were only for AP or FL Resident rates and those had blackouts around Thanksgiving. :guilty:

According to the mousesavers list of historical discounts:

For check ins 10/3/11-12/24/11 30%-40% off Annual Passholder room-only rates became available on 8/3/11, exp 9/4/11(Thanksgiving blackout dates)
For check ins 10/3/11-12/24/11 25%-35% off Annual Passholder room-only rates became available on 9/6/11, exp 12/24/11 (reissued with lower discount, same Thanksgiving blackout dates)
For check ins 10/3/11-12/24/11 25%-35% off Florida resident room-only rates became available on 9/9/11, exp 12/24/11(same as above, same Thanksgiving blackout dates)

Hopefully it will be different this year, and you'll get a good discount for earlier in the month. And hopefully it won't be for AP/FL Res only!
Keep your fingers crossed :thumbsup2

Is it worth it to join AAA? Could anyone tell me about it.... Cost to join, benefits etc?:confused3

Ive checked into AP at WDW, but if we do two visits it seems like you break even. Looks like to get a value out of it you need to go more than twice. (We usually do the 5day myw base bc kids are pooped with one park a day being plenty!)

Any nfo is appreciated!!! Thanks!!:goodvibes:goodvibes

I wouldn't get a AAA card just for disney savings. Room rate savings are only 10 to 20%. Theme park ticket savings are only around 5%. Price for the card and perks varies on where you live (there are different branches of AAA based on your state/city). Check out the AAA website (enter your zip for your specific branch) or stop by your local office for more info.

For us, we have AAA in case there is an issue with our cars and the discounts are just a bonus.

I have had AAA for years now and I think its great. Not only for car trouble, but you can save at tons of hotels and restaurants. Lots of discounts on theme park tickets and other stuff. As for Disney yea the savings aren't awesome, we did manage a FD pin this year, but we really enjoy other things that come with it. The Sea Raycer discount is a must do every trip and the priority viewing for Wishes is great too. Our TA is awesome. She goes above and beyond when booking our trips :cool1:

What I don't understand is why don't they do free dinning with AP's. We spend more on an AP than we would on tickets. I understand part of the resoning, it wouldn't make sense to let AP holders get free dinning on multiple trips. If this was your first trip on your AP they should let us have the free dinning. The only thing I can hope for is a discount for AP holders. Hopefully it will be at the resort I have reservations for, the dates I have reservations for, and the room I have a reservation for. It's just not fair.
