Room discount with tickets

Hoping that there'll be a RO discount for February '15. If we book that and want to purchase tickets aswell, how does that work? I thought I read it would become a pkg and the disc wouldn't apply anymore. So if that's the case how do you purchase tickets with it? Has anyone find this before? We had SPD last year, but would rather do RO. Thx for any help!

Yes, you can add tickets and it becomes a package, and you do not lose your discount. I believe the rules change on deposit and cancellation. I think a $200 deposit with balance due at 45 day mark. Maybe someone can confirm that.

Here is my experience from booking the trip I took in Feb '14:

First, I booked a Room Only res at POFQ through Disney (with a 20% AAA RO discount). Sometime (months) later, I went on the WDW website and bought my park ticket online (via my MDE account). The ticket purchase did NOT change my RO reservation at all, and did not turn it into a package. (And I did link my ticket to my MDE account.)

I don't know what it does if you purchase tickets at the same time you make the room res - that's where it may have to be a package.
