We were set to cruise Sept 5 and was all set with 2 adjoining rooms. (5 people, DH, me, 3 DD's) Everything was great until Frances showed up. WE had to re-scheduled for next week. Now I am happy that we were able to re-schedule without any penalties, etc. But when my new rooms were assigned the 2 rooms are on different floors, and one is in the middle of the ship and the other is in the front!!!
I called and asked to be close, even fopr a charge, but nothing avail. The CM did tell me she will put the request in for inventory control
Don't really know what that is, but hoping that we get close. She was quick to offer me a suite with verandah and all for alot of $$$$ more than I want to pay (Almost $1K)
Anybody can give me an idea of I have a remote chance to have the family close?

I'm sure they will do everything they can. If nothing has changed once you get on board check with guest services, there may be others who need to make a swicth that will free up something closer. The problem is this close to departure the ships are usually pretty full, so they can't just move a lot of people around as freely as they might be able to months in advance. Again I'm sure they'll do their best, it is just an unfortuneate side effect of dealing with this remarkable hurricane season.

What's the date of your new ressies and how old are your DDs? Just a thought, have you posted on the Cruise Meet thread for your new date to see if there is someone with a room assignment close to one of your rooms in the same class that might be willing to switch with you?

FYI, Inventory Control is the group that actually does the room assignments.

Hi CaribGirl

Not sure when you are sailing and not sure of your room type, but we are to sail on the Magic on the 25th. We have an adjoining room on deck 7 which we did not request, it is an inside cabin that I would be willing to trade for a varandah and while I don't know who has the other half of the adjoining cabin I bet they might also. So if they would move some people around they could probably find you connecting cabins.

Good luck

I'll keep trying, and since we live 20 min. from PC, I am going to try to be there early!! Easier said than done. At this point I am just happy we are cruising. DD's are 6,10,14. A bit too young to be so far. I will try your idea CM-Mom, there is a thread for the Wonder. Thanks for your offer godisneyboat! We are going on the 4 day!!! (Wishing it was a 7 day!!!)
Like I said, it is not a vacation buster, and it will definetly NOT ruin this cruise!!! WE are all just happy to be cruising!!!:teeth:

You might want to contact DCL again and ask that the ages of your girls are emphasized in the request to Inventory Control. I agree that I wouldn't want kids that age on another deck. Down the hall in the same section (middle, forward, aft) shouldn't be that big of a deal.

I agree allears that you should check with Guest Services at the terminal and after you board if DCL hasn't resolved the issue further. They may not be able to do anything but then again, they might.

CaribGirl:
You don't say what category you had/want/were assigned. Looking at Expedia for the 4 noc. sailing on September 25th: they show cat 8 room 7014 open and 3 cat 5 rooms 7078, 7094, 7546. (also 1 room in cat 4). Maybe one of those is near the others to switch.

We are on Wonder 9/26. I do have the request in to be close. Wost come to worst, the DH will take 1 or 2 of the DD and I will take the other!!! WE'll definelty make the best of it!:teeth:
I much rather be on the ship anywhere than at home!!!:hyper:

Something will work out. Send me some pixie dust. Not looking for an updgrade for free, willing to pay difference. We'll see, something will work out!!!::yes::

I hope you can get close together. I know if Disney asked us if we'd take a different cabin (same category on same deck) I'd volunteer in order to help out small children be close to their family. I wonder if Inventory Control will ask the people across from the two rooms if they'd switch. Maybe the CM's at the port could help. I know they have all kinds of special requests at the last minute but if they can ask the people across from either room if they would switch you may be able to work it out. Good Luck. Splitting a family on two separate floors really stinks!!
