Room deposit $200??

On the WDTC insurance - be careful! They do automatically include the insurance and it is NOT refundable once you make your deposit. You can ask them to remove the insurance for you.

SuzyQue, To answer your question. I did tell her I wanted a room only reservation. She didn't know I had AAA til we got to the part about tickets and then when she gave me the price and cancelation I mentioned this was no different than AAA and she offered to transfer my call to WDTC because they could handle AAA if I wanted to do that instead. Anyway I just went ahead and had everything taken care of through my AAA agent. I called her and she did all the work. I just wonder why CRO had changed to the same terms as WDTC.

From what I understand, Disney is trying to completely eliminate the CRO and run everything through WDTC ... which would be okay if they would do room only ressies ... as just that ... with no insurance, etc. added in. And, if they would have a reasonable cancellation policy. To me, 44 days out isn't reasonable. Although in 10 years we have never cancelled a WDW trip there were a couple times when we thought we might have to and it was well within the 44 day limit ... which would have cost us $ under the WDTC policy. Just too many...what ifs...for me to feel comfortable with this policy.

I hear what you are saying, Sammie. That makes sense- but at the same time it HURTS those that DO have plans to come and DON'T have multiple reservations (why couldn't they just not allow multiple reservations? Are their computers not updated enough to warn them if someone with the same name and/or credit card and/or social security card is trying to book another room?) -who make reservations, plan on definitely coming- and then something happens where they can't and they get charged penalties for cancelling.

I mean come on... one night's cost I could understand. But the amount they will charge as a penalty is more than that (well, if you aren't staying somewhere that is more than $200 a night) AND 45 days before is ridiculous. Do they not realize that a lot of people will have things come up in that amount of time that forces them to be unable to come? Yet if they wait till the last minute they can't get a place to stay? :(

I can think of about a billion things that could happen to cause someone to not be able to come... and that's without children. Add on another billion if you have children or elderly parents, etc.

And I hear what you are saying and totally agree. I don't agree with their solution to the problem, but I do know what contributed to it.

Unfortunately not only are the cancellation policies unreasonable through WDTC - what they fail to tell you is that any changes made to the reservation less than 44 days prior to arrival will incur a $50 fee !!!! This happened to us recently when we wanted to change resorts - I had no idea that we had booked through WDTC , ( I called the CRO number ) although I questioned the $200 deposit and was told that this was now normal . Anyway I decided not to let this go and asked to speak to a supervisor, to voice our dissatisfaction, but she said that was the policy across the board now. Still not happy, I spoke to someone else who agreed to waive the fee but we still had to pay $10 admin fee !!!

Just to let you know, if you feel the policy is unreasonable be sure to let Disney know. Perhaps if they hear from enough of us they will look at revising it.

I can understand why they would want to do something about the multiple ressie situation so they have a more accurate count but I think they have gone to the other extreme with the policy --- especially during times when tourism is down and fewer dollars are being spent at Disney itself due to the surrounding competition.

You can emai them but I don't have the address at my fingertips. I think you can find the address on the dis site somewhere. Perhaps someone else might know.

I do know that in the past Disney has listened and this might be one of those times. It is worth a few minutes, to me, to drop them an email.

Oh so true. :(

Oh and btw, mine was obviously done through WDTC since they had the same cancellation fees, $200 deposit within 14 days and full balance due by 45 days..... HOWEVER, they did not automatically add in the insurance. She asked me if I wanted it and I said no and when I got confirmation for the room it had a flyer in there to fill out if I wanted to add the insurance. So I guess I lucked out that they didn't automatically add the insurance? :)
