Does anyone know if they will allow you to pay for room charges with gift cards?

Also, can you settle up every night of your trip if you are so inclined or do you have to wait until checkout?

Thanks in advance!

Yee you can used gift cards to pay your balance but I don't think that you can use them for charging privileges. I think that you need to have a credit card or debit card on file.

Yes you can pay your balance as often as you wish.

Thanks for the response, Bill! We have no problem having a CC on file, just wanted to know if we could use the gift cards when settling, since it is ultimately cheaper to do so. ::yes::

The usual credit/debit card limitation is $1500, at which time the card is charged and the limit begins again. As long as you go to the front desk and settle your charges before hitting that limit by paying with your rewards card(s), you will be fine.

I think you could also put a credit on your account using those rewards cards and would ask about that at check in - still putting a credit/debit card on file at the same time.

Enjoy! :)

One thing I've been in the habit of is if I do this I pay by the night before check-out. I've heard they run the credit card overnight (I know I've seen last-day charges go through to my credit card separately sometimes).

I always put a CC on file. Additionally, if I am planning to use gift cards I put them on my account when I am checking in. About 50% of the time I will get a cast member who will swear up and down that it can't be done, no how, no way. I just ask the CM to check with a supervisor and then the supervisor gives the necessary training on how it can be done.

The reason I like to do it on check in is so I don't have to stand in line again at check out (or multiple times during the visit)--or even worse so I don't forget because I am focused on packing up and getting off to the airport.

The reason they don't like to take it on check in is they are worried that I won't spend all the GC money and then it has to get credited back to my CC on file. (Apparently Disney prefers the cash flow to go the other way :) ) The Disney Share holders can rest easy though, for my part I have never had a refund in all the times I have done this. ;)

Hahaha! While we try to do everything as efficiently as possible with our money, I sincerely doubt we'd end up having a refund. ;) That's really good info, thanks so much!

I had a whole stack of gift cards on our last trip. It took them a minute or two to run each of them. Rather than stand there for a long time on our last night, I chose to take a few of them up at a time during the stay. It was also a good way for me to guage how we were doing on our spending.
