Room block discount time frame limit?

I've sent an email inquiry to our sales consultant for clarification, but because she pretty much hasn't answered any of my previous questions thus far (just sends the standard form emails for the most part), I'm not expecting to hear back. So I figured I'd ask you all since I'll be working on my room block this weekend.

My fiancé and I are planning a Monday wedding, arriving at WDW the Wednesday before, staying through the following Sunday. We're hoping to rent DVC points for the first 9 nights, then spend the last 2 nights at the Polynesian for a "mini-moon"- paying for one night and using our free night for the second. Obviously, we'd love to pay the discounted room block rate for the Poly for the night we have to cover, but this FAQ makes it sound as though that would not be possible:

"8. If I only blocked 2 days before and 1 day after my celebration and my guests want to arrive earlier or extend their vacation, can they book rooms at the discounted rate?
Yes. They can book up to three days prior to the beginning of your block and stay as late as three days after the end of your block, based on availability of dates and rates."

This also worries me for our guests who plan to make a week-long vacation of it, arriving Friday/Saturday and staying through the following weekend. Will the rate change for them once we're out of that "3 days after" time frame?

You can make your block last longer so that the 3 days before/1 day after are pushed further out in either direction. Our block was 2 weeks long so we could use it for our honeymoon. Also, if you just want to use your block for your own honeymoon, your room block coordinator may be able to get you the same rate at that resort and eliminate the need to extend your block dates at all. :thumbsup2

Is extending the time frame is something that needs to be done when I submit this initial room block, or can it wait until I'm dealing with the room block coordinator? Especially since it will just be a couple rooms that will need an extension.

Thanks again, as always, Carrie!

We made the arrangements directly with our sales consultant when we set up the block, but that was in the days before dedicated room block coordinators. I think you could do it either way.
