Looking to go 8/5-12 and want to stay at GF, Poly or lastly Contemporary of the BL. Not sure how to go about a party of 6. Any ideas?

Btw, 1 adult and (2) 15 year olds (2) 10 year olds and (1) 7 year old. All girls.

Thanks!

You'd need to look into a suite of some kind. There aren't any standard rooms at these resorts that sleep 6.

Krazeek120 may well be right. There MIGHT be some deluxe rooms at one or more of these resorts that sleep 6, but I am not sure if there are or not. Sorry.

Other options:
You could do a cabin at FW or a deluxe room in WL that sleep 6. We have also stayed in a deluxe room at BWI that slept 6. However the deluxe rooms were CL and quite pricey.

Then there is the AoA family suite which would work for you.

Other options are trying for DVC (although at this late date availability would be problematic and most studios sleep 5, I believe) or two rooms in a moderate or value resort. With the two rooms you would have to request connecting rooms. I hesitate to recommend that because it is a request not a guarantee. With only one adult, you would most likely get the connecting rooms, but I have heard of it happening where someone did not get the connecting rooms even with only one adult.

Personally, if it were me, I would go with either AoA or FW cabins. Unless, of course, the cost of a suite at the Gf or Poly or CR is not prohibitive for you. (It would be out fro us).

Good luck!

1) Two standard rooms, but challenge will be connecting rooms since you have minors and connecting rooms aren't guranteed.
2) A suite. There are suites at all three large enough to handle six. Although Disney suites can be absurdly expensive. Not all suites show up on Disney's website - some do, some don't. I'd call and talk though options.

3) Renting DVC points at GF or BLT for one of the larger room options (not sure if possible at 6 months)

Those are my thoughts.

1) Two standard rooms. Since your with minors I 'think' you can guaranty connecting rooms but make sure to look into this more. That's one of the only situations where you can guaranty a connecting room if I'm not mistaken.

I'm pretty sure there is never a guarantee of connecting rooms. I think there was a report on here at one time of someone finding that out the hard way. For that reason, I wouldn't recommend booking connecting rooms unless there can be an adult in each room.

Someone may be able to verify or debunk what I've said...

Sadly, you are mistaken. It has happened to at least one person on these boards where it was them and a group of minor children. They were "guaranteed" connecting rooms, but none were available when they checked in. You can never count on connecting rooms no matter what you are told.

To get everyone in one room at one of those resorts, you would need a suite at Poly, GF and CR, a bungalow at Poly villas or a 2-bedroom villa at VGF or BLT. Maybe consider a deluxe room at WL? It holds 6, includes club level amenities and will most likely price out much less than any of the other options. It's not on the monorail, but still in the MK area and it's a lovely resort.

Thanks so much for all the help! I really wanted to stay at a monorail hotel so we can go to at least 2 of the parks and just be able to jump on the monorail. We are planning on going to the parks at opening until were too hot then coming back and staying at the hotel by the pool and going back and evenings. I do t want to spent a lot
Of time on buses.

We will be there a month before my twin 16th birthday and they had stayed in hotel rooms w/o an adult a lot because the travel with their sports team. I obviously would prefer joining rooms but if you think we couldn't get them but we at least be able to get on the same floor close to each other? If I have to do a suite they better have a great discount code soon!!

You should check to make sure Disney will let you have a room with no adults. I'm not sure if that's allowed?

Room requests - eg, building preference, floor preference, etc - can't be guaranteed so it can be tough for someone in your situation.

One way to have more "control" over where exactly your room will be located is by booking club level, but it's not a perfect solution in your case either. In addition to some other benefits such as a lounge with food offerings, dedicated CMs, etc, club level rooms are generally on dedicated floors and buildings. Here are some thoughts about club levels for your resorts in question:

CR - Atrium Club rooms are all on the 12th floor. If you book two Atrium Club rooms, you'll absolutely be on the same floor. Many are connecting as well so you at least have a chance of getting your connecting room.

Poly - The Poly CL rooms are all in the Hawaii Longhouse, although could be on any of three floors, depending somewhat on what view category you were to book. There are a number of connecting rooms in this building as well.

GF - GF has two CL buildings, both bookable. Both have multiple floors so while you'll be in the same building, you might not be on the same floor.

There's more to it than the above but that's a brief summary of CL options.

There is a deluxe queen room at gf in the royal palm club. 2 queens a queen sleeper bed and I think, you can have a roll away. Similar price to deluxe king shown on the website. You have to call to book it's not on the web.

More info on page 1 of gf thread.

I just checked dvc availability for a 2 BDRM for the week you're going. Actually availability is quite good, albeit not the most economical. So here's what's open at the world....
SSR - standard, preferred and treehouses
OKW- Reg and hospitality house
AKL- Jambo(std) and kidani(std or savanna)
BLT- Lake view
VGF- Lake view
BRV
Poly- bungalows
Those are all full availability. Anywhere from 1174 pts at the poly to 287 for the std at AKL. BLT is 386 pts. Since you're at 6 months out you could rent it for $15/pt

Someone has to explain to me what happens when someone such as the OP books 2 rooms with minors and appears at the hotel and is told no connecting rooms. What does Disney do? Put the kids in a room alone?

I mean I do know they don't guarantee connecting rooms but how do they allow 1 adult to book 2 rooms?

Disney will not allow a room without at least one guest being 18 yrs old or older.

The rules are different for the sports groups, they will allow rooms to be booked with only minors. For a regular reservation for the general public, you won't be able to do this. Their system won't allow a room to be booked with no adults. Your only options are to bring another adult, or book a villa or suite that accommodates everyone in your party.

Your best bet on the monorail would be to call and ask about any deluxe rooms that sleep six (CL) OR two rooms at the CR atrium CL (where your odds of getting connecting are good and you are guaranteed the same floor and corridor (booking both rooms with the same view).

The deluxe room at the WL and the FW cabins are a boat ride away from the CR or MK for monorail access. It's not perfect, but more affordable and in the MK area. The FW cabins have a full kitchen and a deck which is very nice. Lots of fun activities at FW as well.

If you want to just hop on the monorail to go to the MK and Epcot, the Poly is your best choice. From either the GF or the CR you will have to take the resort monorail to the TTC and then transfer to the Epcot monorail. From the Poly you can walk to the TTC and grab the Epcot monorail from there.

Unless the monorail is down. And it's down often. Can't discount that. I personally wouldn't get too wrapped in booking a monorail resort for that reason.

Yes, that is true. Excellent point! I should have been more clear.

I was only mentioning this because OP said that she wanted to be on the monorail line and not to spend a lot of time on buses. Whether or not you want to base where your stay upon being on the monorail line is a separate issue from which monorail resort has the most direct access to Epcot when the monorail is running.
My point was: If you are looking for easy monorail access to both parks, the Poly is the one to choose because you do not have to change lines at the TTC.

However, as you say, monorail access is not what it once was, as it is not always available.

Bonus to the Deluxe rooms at WL, you get club level access...You may get that at GF, Poly and CR too for a deluxe room, but I'm pretty sure WL is cheaper ;)
