Excellent point. I never even considered that. It is entirely possible that a 5th floor, 2br, at BCV is not even opening up that day. Which makes berating the CM seem even more ridiculous

I would echo this sentiment completely. To paraphrase Will Rogers..."I've never met a DVC room that I didn't like!"

As I stated earlier... this is all just the theroetical musings of someone who really doesn't have a lot to do....lol

They can give away my room any time thay want.... I'll probably be at the pool, or parks, or golfing, or dining out, or riding the monorail, or just having a cool drink in the shade anyway. Enjoy.

I have experienced planning a trip usung alot of points for family members where our only request was to be near each other. The first time in preferred view one bedrooms we were as far a part as physically possible with out being in a different resort. Last year we booked 4 two bedroom standard view rooms and we were all in a row on the third floor overlooking the entry which was fabulous. It made a huge difference in our family trip. I just got lucky I guess. Usually I try and get the GV like Rich at OKW as all your requests are covered before you get there...no guessing if you got a boardwalk view or if you will be toigether. When staying on cash before becoming a member, I've arrived at midnight and gotten two studios overlooking the BW. After a member, several trips looking at the gardening sheds before I realized that standard view had better views for less points.

I'm with you. Quite honestly, it wouldn't bother me a bit if DVC were to see stop taking any preferences except S / NS and Medical reasons. Every trip, DW wants a BW view. Got it once out of 12. Never a complaint about Luna park or quiet pool rooms, just that when you make a request, guaranteed or not, you build some imaginary expectation that it will be honored and when it isn't, there is some disappointment, albeit minor in most cases.

I've suspected that cash sometimes gets precedence over points on prime rooms. My logic is, as a member, chances are pretty good that you'll be back. The guy on cash, however, can always decide to save some $$ and go to the All Stars next time, so the deluxes have a vested interest in making him happy and getting him back.

Bytdrc:I'll explain. You did get into No Smoking, first request honored. Next, you requested close together. 2 on one floor and 0ne a floor away? if it was only 1 floor away, i'll say both request were honored.

I disagree. No smoking is about 70-80-90% BWV. MOST rooms will be that anyway. So... The only request is close together. I don't think A LONG walk to the elevator, go down one floor, A LONG walk to my friends room is close. I don't know,3-5 minutes is a long way from close.

Since we have 3 two BR units next week at Grande Ocean and requested them in the same building, same floor if possible. We'll see how it goes. Last time they exceeded my expectations and gave me one of what I'd consider the 2 top units in the place. That was only one unit though. These are 3, different views, two as an owner and one as an exchanger. Much more difficult to fill. Marriott seems to put much more emphasis on giving an owner (at that resort) priority and on when the reservation was made. If that's the case, 2 of the units should be great as these were made at 13 months out and only a relatively few units can be reserved at 13 months out, most owners can't reserve until 12 months out.
