room assignments

Hi all. We are getting ready to go to WDW the first week of January and are staying at OKW. I have already done the online check in but I wanted to call and make a room request. When do they normally make the room assignments? Is it the day we arrive or is it when I did the online check in? Thanks for your help.
 
Good question. I know you can make specific requests through the app. Touring Plans also has a room request fax they automatically send to the hotel!

I can't answer as to when assignments are made though.
 
Most information we have is that room assignments begin about 5 days out, but the assignments can still change up until you are there due to various reasons. You will not know your room assignment until the day you arrive and the room is ready, either by receiving a text message, checking the MDE information, or the front desk tells you.

Since you are OKW a DVC resort are you staying on points, renting points or paying Disney cash?

If the first 2: then DVC member services need to notified of your preferences by the owner of the time-share (you or the person you are renting points from).

For a Disney reservation you should call Central Reservations and have your reservation updated to include your preferences "now" and not wait until January.

We are renting through David's Vacation Club (I guess that's referred to as renting points?). So do I notify member services? Or should I notify David's vacation club? And if there is a problem with the rental, do I need to talk to the front desk or talk to somebody else?
 
I'm renting points at OKW (also through David's) this week and just checked in online. The app will let you request a specific area of OKW, or ground floor, or near a bus stop. It lets you put in a first and second choice request. I guess if you want something more specific, you would have to go through David's/ the member you're renting from, but my request wasn't that specific, so I just used the app, and got a confirmation email that they received my request.

Any issues with the rental will need to be dealt with David's as you rented a reservation from the owner and not Disney.
 
If you have the member you rented from contact MS for requests. Do NOT put a request in when doing online check-in, as these request over-ride any put in by MS.
