Rookie RotR question

I haven't been back to DL in several years, so haven't had the chance to ride Rise yet and have been trying to avoid most spoilers. I've heard that much of the "line" doesn't feel like line since there are things to look at before the actual ride starts. This is probably a weird question, but when they list 70-120 minutes of wait time, is that mostly just standing in zig zag queue out into the land or does that include being in some of the cool rooms? I'm trying to convince my family that waiting in a long line will be worth it and if I can tell them that it doesn't feel like thaaaat long of a wait because there's cool storm troopers around it'll be ok. Haha. I guess I could watch some you tubes, but I'd love to go in as spoiler free as possible!

It's a resistance ride, so I wouldn't expect storm troopers. It's a decent line, most inside. There's a Play Parks game inside the app that I saw a bunch playing and it seemed cool. There's also stuff to check out as well. If the ride is 70 or less, I'd totally do it.

The queue is pretty awesome I think. We always love looking at all the details. That being said, I haven’t seen how far the line extends out of the cool queue part. I heard the end of line was at the mark Twain! But once you go into the actual queue, it’s super neat. I’m a big fan, so I love it.

I liked that Disney in addition to the cool stuff to check out, they have built-in areas for sitting. If the line is moving slow it sure is nice to have a place to sit, even if it only for a minute or two.

I feel it is similar to the Indy's and Racers que. There are several interesting items to see along the way to the actual ride.

There are storm troopers and it's a little scary, but in a good way.

When I did the ride it was with boarding groups not a regular standby line. There is tons of fun stuff to see and cool details if you are a Star Wars fan. I don't remember how long the wait was, if that is at all helpful.

I have only waited in line with the virtual queue. The queue area is alright, but I don’t think it is very entertaining, and I am a pretty big Star Wars fan. The good thing is it is mostly inside and there is a lot of seating along the way (the most I have seen in any ride). But the ride itself is an experience unlike any other ride.

If you do datapad in Play Disney, there's two missions inside Rise of the Resistance. I find that the line actually moves too quickly to fully enjoy the missions but if you aren't doing them, the line isn't really that special. I do like that there is some seating in the line and it's one of the more interesting queues so an hour wait here is not bad compared to an hour wait for most other attractions.

If you haven't been on it before, Rise of the Resistance is definitely worth a long wait.

It's a line that keeps moving. I usually time our wait times, so far we have been on RotR 6 times in the past couple months. Never felt the urge to time it. Guess I was always too excited/entertained to remember. Lots of details to look at.

If I had never ridden Rise before, and now having done so and seeing how amazing it is, I'd wait all day just to ride it once. I'm a huge Star Wars fan so maybe that helps. But I'm old enough that the original trilogy is where my heart lies and honestly Kylo Ren and the First Order and the Resistance are just Star Wars wannabes for me. I'd prefer Galaxy's Edge bring in Darth Vader, Yoda, Luke, Han etc too. Anyway, I still LOVE the ride. We've been to Disneyland a lot so wouldn't be missing out on other new things but the ride would still be a must do one time. I would think even someone who does not like Star Wars would be blown away by the experience (yes, it is really an experience, not just a ride). After that first ride, 60-90 is probably my top wait time--in that range and I'd probably jump in daily. The ride is that good. I really like the inside queue. In some areas there are great Star Wars things to see (uniforms, weapons etc). In other areas there's not specific Star Wars stuff but just studying the queue and what they constructed in there would easily entertain me the first time. I like seeing how they ran wires, where they put cameras and how they disguise them, the rock/cement work, painting, just all the amazing details. It does have the feel of a Star Wars base. Good luck with your decision!

I haven't tried the current line system, but one time when they were still using the boarding groups, the line took about 55 minutes to get from the entrance (signage for the ride) to the briefing room. The line was pretty solid and moving slowly (it had been down earlier in the day so I think there was quite a backlog of boarding pass groups to get through). This part of the queue is a mixture of fully outdoors and inside the "tunnel" system where there are some Star Wars things to see once you get into the "tunnels". As others have mentioned, the queue is themed to be the tunnels for the resistance, so you'll see stuff that the resistance would use (e.g., uniforms, weapons, crates) (but there are no characters or things like that in the queue). I felt that both of the Galaxy's Edge attraction queues had a fair amount of theming.

Personally I think Smugglers Run has better theming in the queue to keep your attention and the entertainment of listening to the workers conversations. But like others have said, Rise is a unique experience that is worth the wait, especially if it is your first time.

ROTR is simply the best ride in DL. I've been fortunate enough to go many times in my life,, and I'm at the point where I'm pretty picky about how much time I'm willing to put up with to get on a particular ride. Rise is worth it. OP, if your family won't go, don't let them keep you from experiencing something marvelous. Go on your own.
