Our entire townhouse association is having the roofs replaced, and today was our day. As I was posting earlier this morning, the noise was pretty bad and the wall was shaking so I decided to turn off the computer and find someone to take the kids to go visit. Not even 5 minutes later one of the roofers decided that my bedroom would look better with a skylight! We have a hole about 4 by 5 in our ceiling now. I am just so glad I got off the computer, or I would have been hit by the falling plaster and what not. Fortunatly the guy is OK too, and the hole should be fixed tomorrow. My kids were prety shook up, and scared that the ceiling was going to come down someplace else. Anyways, that was my adventure for the month, and since we don't want the skylight, they went ahead and put that part of the roof in! LOL

ETA ~ Now I just have a whole lot of laundry to do as I need to wash all the clothes that were out since they were covered in insulation.

How did he go through the roof. Did he put his foot through it. That could mean that the plywood got wet and was rotted, it may be a bigger problem than fixing the hole. I would ask some questions.

YIKES! Did the workman fall through the roof?

No, they did a complete tear-off, old plywood included. He was walking on the rafters when he slipped and put his leg through one spot and his elbow through another.

This is starting to turn into a major headache! The guy who was supposed to come "right out" and fix the hole still has not even called. I have talked to the foreman several times already today and still nothing. We have decided to go ahead and contact our insurance company and let them take care of it, and then fight with their insurance company. Our agent has already said we won't have any problems due to it.

I am understanding about an accident. I was completly cool and calm about this yesterday, but not anymore. My husband came home early yesterday, so had to use a sick day, and now I have at least 15 loads of laundry to do. (teaches me to make sure I put away the clean clothes from now on thats for sure!) We have to sleep in the living room due to all the dust that is still in the air in our room. I have been on the computer for 10 minutes and already my throat is bothering me. At this rate, who knows when it is going to be fixed if I don't sart getting mean about it. Argh!! Thanks for letting me vent, it helped!!!

Boy do I feel your pain! It looks like my house will be a mess until Christmas at the earliest-dust everywhere, and taking turns sleeping in the living room depending on whose bedroom is worse during the construction:crazy: Good luck to you!
