Ronald McDonald is ditching Mickey Mouse

You must also despise Planet Hollywood and House of Blues then. And there's nothing uncommon about park food. In fact, there are quite a few parks that sell better food than Disney's.
I'm not a huge fan of Planet Hollywood (it's no different than Applebees or Friday's) but I've never been to a House of Blues. All I'm trying to say is that I go to WDW to experience the magic and I don't see any magic in McDonald's. I'm also not a fan of the food (again, IMHO).

I'm grateful that McD's is in DD. It's an exciting destination for DS and I can easily find something else to eat.

I challenge you to name one other theme park destination that is home to a 5 diamond restaurant.

There's no 5 diamond restaurant in a Disney theme park.

It's in a Disney resort.

Yeah I am well aware of that. That is why I said in a theme park destiantion (i.e. The Walt Disney World Resort) and not in a theme park (i.e. MK, Epcot, DS, and AK). But the challenge remains. name a single 5 diamand restaurant that exists in a hotel owned by and on the property of a theme park.

You would find it impossible to find a another park that has as large a collection of great dining as the WDW resort.

I find Disney's park food as a whole very average. Also, your comment about the entire resort seems based around quantity. Of course no other resort will have as many good restaurants as WDW; No other resort has nearly as many restaurants period. Hardly a fair comparison.

As an orlando resident you must also be aware of the fact that Disney is the owner and operator of the only 5 diamond restaurant in central florida, and one of only 6 in the entire state. I challenge you to name one other theme park destination that is home to a 5 diamond restaurant.

Actually, I didn't know that, because that kind of thing is meaningless to me. I've had plenty of worse experiences at hotels that have more "stars" than others. It's all subjective. I don't even have a clue what restaurant it could possibly be, honestly. Admittedly, I haven't dined at every single restaurant in WDW. But who has? But I will tell you, there are multiple restaurants on Universal property that I'd rather eat at than anything I've tried at WDW. Speaking of which, another completely subjective fact I could give you, is that they have the #1 rated theme park restaurant in the world, according to TPI. Not Disney. But not everyone will agree with those types of things, just like any other rating. Either way, I know that 5 diamond restaurant isn't in a park, and park food is what I was commenting on.

I'm with everybody else on this one. My sarcastic comment aside, I don't really care about the 5 diamond award.

As far as the five diamond goes I agree. I have never eaten there and never would, thats just not my thing. However I am simply saying that in my opinion WDW dining is not average. They really have some great food if you stay clear of the hot dog, hamburger, and pizza places.

Three years ago I got a part time job at McDonalds. I chose to work there because my kids liked the happy meal toys better there than BK. Luckily my kids have outgrown the toys now, and I can move on. :teeth:

If we are talking Theme Park food by itself, I'd like to know of another park that offers a wider selection & better quality then the parks at WDW. We can even exclude Epcot because of the unfair advantage it has over other parks.

A "must do" dining experience every trip is the Flame Tree BBQ. If you want to call their slab of St Louis Ribs "common" or "average" you're crazy. FT BBQ serves excellent food - even their baked beans are great.

MGM: Hard to call Brown Derby, Hollywood & Vine, Prime Time Cafe or Mama Melrose's "average park fare".

MK: Tony's, Crystal Palace, Cindy's, etc...... Average ???

If all else fails, grab a turkey leg and knawl away. Where could you possibly find a better tasting turkey leg ?

I agree. There are some folks who who consider themselves connoisseurs, or epicurian experts, or food critics, or some other snobish ;) title, who will always say Disney food is crap. But hey, we know better, don't we? :p

I heard that in the coming years, Coke might not be in parks anymore. Pepsi will take over, but I won't believe it till I see it.

We certainly do!!
As for McDonalds--the business aspect of it all is a management decision for them. I suppose these "deals" are more and more common between companies.
Should add that I haven't been to a McDonalds in years, so if the ones at WDW "went away", wouldn't phase me in the least.

I would doubt that myself. I just don't see Coke wanting to give up what they have. Not to mention the fact that more people drink Coke than pepsi.

Now, wouldn't THAT be great! WE can hope, can't we? :drinking1

Ha Ha! I will not be ignored, Pepsi, Pepsi, Pepsi! :teeth: :earsboy:
