Stayed at the Ron Jon Resort last week for two nights (2 bedroom) - very enjoyable, very nice resort. I had booked using code 102. I was never asked for a coupon.

FYI, I did get a hold of the Florida Travel Magazine and I found the ad offering code 102 for 25% off - and there really isn't a "coupon" in the ad, just a note to "mention code 102."

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info. We booked for July using the code, but have no magazine to bring with the ad/coupon. Its nice to know that they didn't ask for it!!

How was the pool/waterslide/ lazy river area?
Are there lounges on the beach for Ron Jon guest?
Did you happen to notice if there is a data port in rooms?

Sounds like you enjoyed your stay.

Thanks,
Sharon:wave2:

Hi Sharon,
We enjoyed the lazy river, the hot tub and the pool volleyball area. Only did the slide one time - kids (13 and 14) called it "lame" and not worth the stair climb for another go. I liked it.

Use caution around pool deck area - some parts were very slippery. Pool towels were in a closet in the kitchen area.

Did not notice beach lounge chairs - however, we did not get down to the beach until near sunset and it was chilly (we wore jackets).

Sorry, didn't notice dataports.

Our room did have a DVD player and there were DVD's to rent in the lobby. We brought a Netflix one from home and just mailed it from the hotel when we were finished.

The restauant onsite is only open for lunch and dinner, not breakfast and there is nowhere to buy a cup of coffee onsite in the morning. However, there is a little restaurant a block away called the Portside Galley that served a nice breakfast, pretty cheap. DH and I ate there and bought breakfast to go for the kids.

Oh, and all the food at the onsite restaurant is available for take-out. Didn't eat there, but it sure smelled good!

Mini golf is free, 9 holes, simple but fun.

As mentioned before, the parking garages have only one way in and out. If you enter and there are no spaces, you have to turn in a tight space or back out. And the garage is low-clearance - and the low clearance bar was knocked off twice to our knowledge (and no, not by us - altho we fixed it once)

The washer/dryer was a stacked unit, very small capacity. They did leave one tiny box each of Tide, some kind of fabric softener and I believe a stain remover powder.

I liked the hotel and would stay again if I could get another good rate. Be glad to answer any other questions.

DizMare- I am happy to hear that you had a nice time. We are looking forward to our upcoming stay for two nights next month!

cost for 2 bedrroom, one night, using code 102 was $168.75 or $185.61 with tax

Diz Mare - Glad to know you had a great time. I just booked a 2 bedroom using Code 102 for our Nov trip, and got the same rate as you.

this is great information. We normally stay at the Radisson, but i believe we will give this a try next time.

We secured a one-bedroom with the same code for $109 w/tax. We flipped from Radisson, which was only about $10 less.

Glad to hear all went well. We will be staying there next month--can't wait.

Hiya! We are thinking of staying at Ron Jon's before the cruise and have some questions:

1. Is this the type of place you might want to stay 2 nights prior to cruise to enjoy the beach or would you advise to only stay one night due to lack of dining choices/activities/etc or would you recommend another hotel for a 2 night stay. (I love the beach and would enjoy that). :sunny:

2. Can you walk to the beach from Ron Jon's?

3. We won't be renting a car. Any advice on transportation to the port from Ron Jons?

4. Someone on an earlier post mentioned walking to a restaurant of some type and said it was not a "scenic route." Does anyone know what that means? I guess I am concerned about safety.

Thanks in advance! :teeth:

Tinkerbellmagic- We are staying two nights next month. We felt with the numerous activities to enjoy at the resort one night would not be enough. I have also read posts from those who have already stayed at the resort and they seem to feel a couple of nights are a good idea if you want to enjoy everything.

Sorry for the delay in answering.

We found plenty to do for 2 nights. The beach is nice, altho it was too chilly for us to use. We did walk to the beach, but I understand there is a little shuttle that is available. I didn't see it, but again, we went at dusk and it was not beach weather.

The Portside Galley Restaurant is only about a block away, sidewalks all the way, and seems perfectly safe. I would do it with my two kids, no problem. The restaurant itself was full of families (and locals - they were the ones in pants and jackets - as opposed to us in shorts and sandals).

We drove to Grills, altho it is very close to Ron Jon's. Not sure if it is walkable.

Hope this helps! :D
