Hi all,
We just recently returned from a great Mediterranean cruise on the Magic (August 15-22) and I wanted to put in a plug for RomeInLimo for shore excursions in Italy. We had read about them here along with several other companies. Since we are a family of 6, taking the Disney shore excursions were going to be pretty expensive, so we booked a private van in Naples, Rome and Florence. We paid about 500 Euros each place after they gave us a discount for booking multiple days. Our experience was great! They picked us up in a nice, air-conditioned Mercedes van each place. Our drivers were all great and spoke perfect English. They were willing to do anything we asked such as shopping or stopping for gelato (yum!). They also found us great local places to eat when they could (Rome was a little difficult because Italians take vacations in August and a lot of places were closed except the touristy ones). We also paid a little extra for private guides for Pompeii and the Vatican which were also worth it. It was also nice that the small vans could get us much closer to sites than the large buses, and we didn't have to wait around for 40 other people to get back on the bus. We tended to arrive everywhere just ahead of the large crowds, allowing us to see things before they got too crowded.
If you are planning on going to the Mediterranean next summer, I highly recommend you check out their tours. Just FYI, we also used Barcelona Day Tours for a morning tour the morning before our cruise. They picked us and our luggage up from our hotel and they dropped us at the port after the tour. At 59 Euros a piece, it wasn't cheap, but they gave us the sixth person free, and we felt it was worth it.
Hope this helps those planning.
Laurie
