Romantic vacation ideas

We've been there a dozen times, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask. :goodvibes

What type of room do you stay in? They all look great. I was particularly liking the Adirondack Suite - you have to call for pricing and I'm afraid. We'll spend a few hundred a night but some are close to $1,000.

We always stay in the same room, the "Elegant Cathedral Room." No jacuzzi or soaking tub, but it's got a gorgeous fireplace and private balcony. It's got a wet bar area with a minifridge, a king bed, and a comfy sofa. but the very best part is that it's on the top floor at the very end of the hallway so it's absolutely private. There's a gorgeous view of Mount Marcy and the Mirror Lake. We've also considered some of the suites, but very few have a fireplace, and we really like that feature, plus we love the privacy. We also prefer being in the mian building because every time we go there the weather is cold and rainy or snowy at least some of the days, so we don't ever have to leave.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am checking them all out. I'm thinking staying in the US to save on time. It's fun looking at all these places. Thank God for the internet.

Another vote for Bermuda :thumbsup2 To me it's a more romantic setting than the Caribbean, between the beautiful pink sand beaches and the British influence (not stuffy at all) it's a wonderful place for an adult getaway. No high rise resorts on the beach and no rental cars - everything goes at a bit slower pace, although renting scooters to get around is a blast! By May the water temps are fine for swimming but not HOT. Should be able to fly direct from most east coast cities.

If you can get a direct flight to Colorado Springs, it's hard to beat the Broadmoore.

It's not a beach vacation, but the place that DH and I find that we unwind and regroup as a couple the best is the Mirror Lake Inn in Lake Placid, NY. It's driveable from PA. Stay in one of the suites or cathedral rooms, use the spa, swim in the pool, have a romantic dinner at the View Dining Room. It's just amazing.

They are oh so accomodating, and it's amazingly relaxing. Take a book to read by the fireplace in the evening, enjoy wine on the balcony before dinner, it's sublime.

As long as you don't go over Memorial Day, you'll love the lack of children. :goodvibes

This looks marvelous!!! I've bookmarked it for myself!

Check out Little Palm Island if ultra luxury is what you're after. It measures up.

Holy Moly that is beautiful.:lovestruc Wish I had that kind of money. I'd be there in a heartbeat.

I've been to the Broadmoor... romantic walks around the pond between the 2 buildings... a tour of the AF Academy... climb to the top of Pike's Peak... wonderful meals. Yep, the Broadmoor would certainly do for a romantic getaway.

I would go to either the Del Coronado in San Diego or to the Fairmont Banff Springs in Banff, Alberta, Canada. They are both unbelievable resorts and very romantic. The Banff Springs has the most amazing spa, totally unbelievable. The setting is just beautiful and the quaint shops in town are fun.

The Del Coronado was the first hotel west of the Mississippi to have electricity and is on the National Registrar of Historic Places. The woodwork in the lobby alone is worth the trip. The rooms have all been redone in the past few years and it sits right on the beach so those long strolls at night are great.

Actually the RimRock in Banff is the nicer of the two. I've stayed at both, and both are amazing, but I have a definite preference for the RimRock. :goodvibes

That's a long, long trip to make for a long weekend though. Great place to go for a longer vacation for sure!

I had the best time on our anniversary trip to Playa del Carmen.

The hotel we stayed at was absolutely wonderful. We even had a butler. Top of the line food (think: lobster, filet mignon, top shelf liquor, etc.) whenever we wanted it. Even for room service. We liked it so much, that we've already booked a return trip for next October.

Check out The Grand Paraiso, and if you like what you see, I can PM you a link to a direct message board.

We have already been there - well next door at the Del Mar. I know your hotel is a step up but i want to try somewhere new. I agree it was a great vacation.

DH just said he wants to stay in the US- I guess to stay in touch w/ home better. We live on the East coast and don't want to fly across the country.

I'm thinking Florida if we do the beach thing - Sanibel or marco island. Also the resort in NY looks awesome. Don't know what to do:confused3

Comparing the Del Mar would be comparing apples to oranges!

But if he wants to stay in the US and you're thinking of Florida, I used to live in Destin, and Seaside and Rosemary Beach are cool places too.

Here's another idea for you. http://www.albergousa.com/

It's an amazing four diamond B&B near Catskill, NY. You can hike, antique, and just relax. The carriage house suites are amazing and a great deal. They are a few feet from the main building, and have an oversized jetted tub for two and a fireplace, plus a king size bed--perfect for romance!

They are well in your price range, and include an outstanding breakfast in the morning. We only stayed there once--always wanted to get back and jsut never made it.

www.seasidefl.com We love Seaside, they have some adorable cottages and of course walks on their white sandy beaches are so romantic!

They filmed Truman Show there, to give you an idea of what it looks like. Lots of great eateries and shopping there as well.
