Dh and I are celebrating our 15 year anniversary in May and we want to go away for a long weekend without the kids.

We live in PA and we will fly anywhere. I was thinking maybe Florida, Mexico, Jamaica. No cities - I'm thinking beach vacation that is relaxing. Don't even think Disney. I want somewhere the kids wouldn't be jealous:)

Any ideas?

For our 25th anniversary we went to Virginia Beach and stayed at a hotel with a jacuzzi in the room on the beach. DH bought the romance package which came with Champagne, 2 glasses, chocolates and a breakfast, Ha also had a dozen roses sent to the room. We had a great time. :goodvibes

Sandals in Jamaica, went there on our honeymoon, all inclusive GREAT time!

It's not a beach vacation, but the place that DH and I find that we unwind and regroup as a couple the best is the Mirror Lake Inn in Lake Placid, NY. It's driveable from PA. Stay in one of the suites or cathedral rooms, use the spa, swim in the pool, have a romantic dinner at the View Dining Room. It's just amazing.

They are oh so accomodating, and it's amazingly relaxing. Take a book to read by the fireplace in the evening, enjoy wine on the balcony before dinner, it's sublime.

As long as you don't go over Memorial Day, you'll love the lack of children. :goodvibes

We went to Aruba for our 20th anniversary this year and loved it. It is a desert island, temps always between 80-90 degrees during the day and night, and just about everybody can speak english. (primary language is dutch). The people were very friendly - we stayed in a 1 bedroom condo across the street from the beach in the "low rise" section. The water is wonderful!

Trip Advisor is a great source for you to research your trip no matter where you want to go. Lots of trip reports that are categorized by the location where the individual stayed.

That place looks beautiful. That is right up DH's alley. I'll have to look into it more.

edit: I have been looking at the site - what room do you suggest- there are so many? I'd love a view.

Paradisus Palma Real in Punta Cana. You can get a nice package from www.cheapcaribbean.com that includes air, transfers, insurance and the all-inclusive. While we took our kids, we hardly saw them because they were finally old enough to go off on their own. We ate dinner without them many nights because they made friends with other kids (not an overwhelming number of them last August.) They have bali beds under palapas around the pool and on the beach. There's a spa and you can schedule a private dinner on the beach if you want.

I can't say enough about this resort. It was truly a 5-star experience.

If it is just for the weekend, flying someplace far seems like it would use up a lot of time. From PA, what about the Greenbrier Resort in WV. You will feel like royalty after a stay there.

We stayed at the Marriott on the beach in Virginia Beach for our 10th, and took a cruise out of NYC for our 40th birthdays, which was nice, because there was no wasted time (we're 20 minutes from the pier). Here is an amazing hotel in NY - can't get more romantic than this: http://www.mohonk.com/:hug:

Ann's suggestion of the Mirror Lake Inn is something that we've toyed with trying ourselves. One of my friends went there with her DH a few years ago and have been suggesting it to us since then.

We've been there a dozen times, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask. :goodvibes

Oh how wonderful, please consider this place Iberostar Paraiso Grand
Adults only and if I did have a special someone I would not have left the room.

You could probably get a really great deal too because May except Memorial Day Weekend is a cheaper month to travel.

It is located in the Riviera Maya. Food is amzing and they have an AWESOME bathroom, shower jacuzzi tub, his and her sinks, plush towels. King Size bed. A living room area and then.... The Balcony has a Bed and a wicker swing for 2.
24 hour complimentary room service and a fridge fully stocked!! Everything is included. If you went for just a few days it will be well worth it.

If you want pictures or more info you can email me.

:flower3:

We went last year to an Iberostar in the Riviera Maya with the kids. They are dying to go back so I hate to go there w/out them. Loved that vacation
