Romantic Lunch Suggestions?

I've eaten lunch at almost all the ones mentioned, and the one I'd recommend isn't mentioned-Coral Reef. It's been my experience that it's a very different atmosphere at lunch than dinner. Very quiet, dark. At dinnertime, it was loud and bustling. The problem I've found with Chefs de France at lunchtime, if you have a window table, is that the WS is pretty busy, and the people outside think nothing of walking up to the window and staring at you and your food. Maybe they think that they can see in but I can't see out. It was pretty surprising to me to be eating away, look up, and find someone staring at me!

My vote would be either Trails End at Fort Wilderness or Whispering Canyon at Wilderness Lodge. They are both in beautiful settings and you usually don't need a reservation and there is typically no wait. Trails End can be difficult to get to since it's near the back of the fort but it is well worth it. Whispering Canyon is known for its antics but they now offer little signs for your table if you don't want to participate.

I can't think of a place more UNROMANTIC than Whispering Canyon! lol Even when you don't participate in the antics, it's crazy loud and hectic in there. We were just there for lunch last week and decided "never again". The food isn't worth returning. I think Brown Derby, Il Mulino at the Swan, bluezoo at the Dolphin, Tutto Gusto, are all better options for "romantic". Or Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian. My opinion, of course. :cutie:

Not to nit pick, but Il Mulino and Bluezoo are not open for lunch. The OP needs to be back at her resort before 4:00, so Afternoon Tea, which doesn't start until 2:00, might be a little rushed.

Not nit picking! I wasn't paying attention. :rolleyes1 all my dinner favorites! But I still stand by my Whispering Canyon feelings! :tiptoe:

I would go with Portobello in Disney springs, it is quiet at lunch and ghe restaurant is not very bright darkened . if you are using disney transportation i wouldnt advise eating in a resort other than your iwn as it can be a pain to get back

Romantic lunch? Honestly, I would go with room service...

We had a nice quiet lunch at Tutto Italia in the Italy pavilion in EPCOT recently. I was shocked how empty the place was. If you sit in the little alcove area off the main dining room you get a nice view of the lagoon and of the whole pavilion square. It was a very pleasant surprise for us.

You mentioned having eaten at Sanaa, otherwise that would be a big recommendation of mine as well. A window table overlooking the Savannah is such a great experience, and their lunch menu is my favorite.

The Hollywood Brown Derby at Hollywood Studios could be a good option if you eat at an off time. Otherwise it gets crowded quick. Excellent food though, so we always eat there regardless!

At the resorts, perhaps the Wave at the Contemporary or the Grand Floridian Cafe, as others have noted. Both are less likely to be busy and offer great food. Personally, my husband and I made a lunch trip to Kona Cafe a few weeks ago on our last day and we were extremely unimpressed, so I can't recommend it. The food was just OK and the ambiance at the Polynesian Village in general is really loud, hectic, and unpleasant. Unless you sit way back in the very back of the restaurant you are literally on display to the lobby, as well. It's weird having an audience while you eat.

Thanks everyone for so many wonderful suggestions! Yes, Sanaa was a great experience which I highly recommend. I like the idea of room service, but I don't think they would let us stay until 4pm. Coral Reef is a definite possibility. Several of the Epcot restaurants seem promising, but getting through WS might be pretty inconvenient, especially as it will be a weekend day during the Flower and Garden Festival. Thanks for all of the great resort options as well. I never would have considered some of these but they sound nice and quiet (except Whispering Canyon, don't think so!) Off to do more research!

I must admit, I really dislike Coral Reef. We had lunch in August at Tutto Italia and it was relatively empty and very pretty. Is California Grill open at lunch time? The lounge has the same menu and it's very comfortable. Fresh Mediterranean in the Dolphin isn't specifically "romantic", but it's a nice atmosphere and the food is good. Even the Cabana Bar at the pool at the Dolphin is very nice.
