My fiance and I are getting married at Disney this June (YEA!!). Most of the time we'll be going around with family. But, for 2 days, we'll have the parks to ourselves with no kids or family...:dance3:. (Then we get to go on a cruise, but that's another story!) Anyway, for those 2 days, where would you suggest eating that's quiet, romantic, but not super-expensive? We are doing the Dining Plan while everyone is there, but since we have a new reservation for the last 2 nights, we decided we're going to go without the dining plan. Anyway, this will be the true start of our honeymoon and we'd really like to start it off right. (Oh, btw, my fiance isn't a huge fan of buffets....:rolleyes1)

Thanks for your suggestions!

Kim

Since you're on the dining plan, I suggest trying Narcoossee's at the Grand Floridian. It IS 2 TS credits; but if you can swing eating at a CS the other night, it's definitely worth it. It's not super romantic while you're eating b/c families still dine there, but the ambiance outside is amazing. The food is delicious as well. I would make reservations so that you are there for Wishes (e.g., about 8:30 for 10:00 Wishes), and ask for a seat near the window. We also go outside to watch Wishes, because sometimes people stand outside and can block your view. It's VERY romantic on the deck, and it has a fantastic view of the fireworks.

Congratulations! My husband and I were married in Disney 13 years ago this coming weekend...it truly was a magical experience.

A little pricey (but manageable if you skip appetizers) is Citricos.

You can also get a meal to go from one of the restaurants (you choose) and have a "picnic" on a lounge chair at the Poly, watching the fireworks (haven't done this yet, but will definitely give it a try one of these days)

Congratulations and best of luck:goodvibes

Is there any way you could add the dining plan for that 2 days on the separate reservation if you can -- "inexpensive" and Disney do not go very far. But at $40 person a day, that will get you a wonderful meal at many Table service restaurants...you're going to find most disney table service meals will run you $35-$50 each, so the dining plan would pay for itself with two nights' dinners...and you'd also get lunch (counter service) and the snack

One of the nicest, quietest meals I have enjoyed at WDW was at the Turf Club at SSR. We sat outside on the patio and had a lovely dinner by candlelight with DTD in the background. It was so nice! A late dinner will cut your chances of seeing lots of people with kids there or any place else.

I also think just having some drinks from the pool bar at the Poly, then watching Wishes on the beach is very nice.

Think about some of the resort bars, just a few drinks and an appetizer can be more economical.

Captain's Grille at Beach Club for a late dinner is another place that you might find to be a bit more quiet and relaxing.

Maybe try a carriage ride at POR, I think those are around $35.

Congratulations and enjoy your wedding, and your honeymoon!

Oh, I just remembered another one! Tokyo Dining at Epcot. Very quiet (this is separate from Tepan Edo). Nice selections of sushi (which I don't eat but they do have it), tempura and teryiaki steaks and chicken. The entress run around $20 and that includes your tea. Its a very relaxed, unrushed meal, the servers do a great job of portraying the Japanese culture. The restaurant has some stellar views of the World Showcase. Ask for a table by the window and you'll have a wonderful view of Illuminations. They dim the lights and pipe in the music. If you tell them its your honeymoon, I am betting they'll do their very best to get you a good table! We saw a couple of honeymooners there last June.

I got one! If you can, grab a bottle of wine from the resort gift shop, 2 mickey glasses, (dont forget cork screw) and stop by either one of the polynesian restuarants for some yummy, but not mess take out and head to the poly beach for wishes and the water parade. You can either grab some beach towels or a chair or two from the pool area and have a very inexpensive, romantic dinner for two.

Whatever you choose to do- you'll love it :-)
I know that sounds cheesy and dumb but last nite me and my hubby were talking about our honeymoon- and we've been to disney 6 times w/ kids since then-
But still hands down- our fave nite ever and fave meal ever was our 1st nite of our honeymoon.
We were staying at the boardwalk adn went down and got to go stuff- i had a calzone and we went back to the room and ate it there. There was nothing special about it- but for some reason it just seemed SO special and perfect, and it was our first real moment alone as a married couple.
It was my fave nite. And we didn't plan a thing- and we ate counter service :-)

Soak everything in and enjoy the small things.

Thanks so much! I totally agree with you! I told my DF that I'm glad it's not June 15th yet because I want to fully appreciate each day of excitement leading up to it!

And, I know that at that point we'll be SO happy to finally be alone that whatever we do will be special. That's a wonderful idea!

Thanks so much for everyone's suggestions! I can't tell you how helpful they were! I had my DF read them and his response was, "Why wouldn't we just go ahead and do the Dining Plan?? It just makes more sense." I agree!! :-) So, I'm hoping to make ADR's today. I think the ideas of picking something up and watching Wishes or the Water Parade is an excellent way of using our Counter Service points. Thanks so much!!

DH and I had an impromptu evening alone on our Dec. 2007 trip....My inlaws had come with us, and they were tired and offered to take the kids back to the pool to swim. It was dinner time, and with no ADR, we knwe we couldn't get into a TS rest. We walked over to the Cantina in Mexico, and got Margaritas and tacos, and sat right by the water and ate...it was a very romantic setting...we got lucky, because there was no one sitting back there for some reason...we were laughing, because we had gotten an inexpensive CS meal, and were sitting along the water with all the twinkling lights, while everyone was packed into the San Angel Inn like sardines, and paying 3x as much for their meals. After dinner, we took the monorail over to the poly, where we watched Wishes and the Electrical Water pageant from the beach. It was a great romantic evening!

Since you're not on the DDP for those two days and want "less expensive", I too recommend the Turf Club. We had a nice (and quiet!) lunch there.

One can also find a bit of romance at the Grand Floridian Cafe (except for breakfast).

If you're in a mood for burgers and shakes, we find it's and romantic in a kitschy kind of way to eat the Dolphin Fountain at the Dolphin Hotel.

Maya Grill at Coronado Springs also is often quiet and romantic, but the food leaves much to be desired these days.

Brown Derby can be romantic if you go in off hours. It's more pricey, but you can split a cobb salad and an entree and not hurt the wallet too much. But, go after the lunch or dinner crowds.

Marrakesh can be a reasonably priced meal -- and I think the setting is so exotic that we always find romance there. The belly dancer is gorgeous, too!

We also like to go to the French pavilion, get the cheese plate and a pastry and sit by the water at Epcot.

Some of the less expensive things I can think of that still have a whiff of romance.

Citrico's is great and super romantic as is Jiko but both can definitely be pricey. The counter service in Japan at Epcot is really nice they have outdoor seating that is really pretty and you almost forget you are in a theme park!

How about Sommerfest? Nothing seems more romantic to me than a german beer and a bratwurst (you could even share the bratwurst).
