My DH & I are taking our kids back home to Fl to visit family-taking 20 days of leave (he's USMC!) On our way home, we are stopping in WDW of course, to celebrate our youngest 4th birthday. My inlaws will pick the kids up after 3 days so hubby and I can move over to the Contemporary to celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary :lovestruc

Anyway, what are some romantic restaurants? We usually have the kids, so this has never been an option lol!

TIA

DH and I ate at California Grill for the first time on our anniversary trip last September and it was wonderful! The views are amazing and the food was wonderful too! I can't say enough about the California Rolls . . . best I have EVER had! I had a French Martini that was really good too!

And if you're staying at the Contemporary, you don't have to go far!

I would recommend Victoria and Albert's and the California Grill as our two top choices. However, this year, for our 35th anniversary (next Monday) we are doing the private dining at the Grand Floridian...I hadn't heard of this before we started planning this trip, but it sounded like an "over the top" experience we haven't had before so we decided to go for it. You basically get to tell them what your food preferences are and they suggest a menu for your approval; it's served on a private balcony in the GF with a view of the MK fireworks over dessert and served by your own personal butler...

To give you an idea of how it works, here's the confirmation email I got:

This is to confirm your Intimate Dinner on (date). Your butler will meet your party at our Grand Piano located in our main lobby at 6:30 pm. Please review the menu that our chef has created and let me know if you have any questions. The cost of your Intimate Dinner is $85.00 per person, plus 6.5% tax, 18% gratuity and $75.00 butler fee.

French Onion Soup

Caesar Salad with Focaccia Breadstick

Filet of Beef accompanied by a Crab Cake, served with Mushroom Ragout,

Haricot Verts (for her) and Grilled Asparagus (for him) with a Roasted Garlic Au Jus

Water is included. Other beverages are additional.

Over our "Wishes" fireworks a special dessert will be served.

I think it will be memorable! If you want more information on how to set it up, PM me.

Enjoy your vacation!!!

How wonderful that you get to enjoy some time together!

Some signature restaurants that DW and I really enjoy are

Victoria and Albert's - Very romantic. Wonderful service. Dinner takes awhile here (2 - 2 1/2 hrs) so you get to spend some time together.

California Grill - Try to get a table during Wishes...you can watch it while you eat, or go out on the balcony.

Narcoossee's - Again, you can see the water parade at night. Great food, especially if you like seafood.

Artist Point - This place doesn't really offer as much as the others in terms of atmosphere, but the food is really exceptional. Even though it may not be as "romantic", DW and I love it, and it is always on our list of places to eat. Very rustic, if you are into that.

Jiko - Different than the others, but always on our list of places to go. We seem to really be able to enjoy each other's company here. Food is wonderful, the atmosphere is great, and the animals seem to add to the whole experience.

Bistro de Paris is also very good - not quite as expensive as V&A.

ADD CG is great, but can be a little noisy. Beautiful view.

I was going to suggest this but you beat me to it! :) We did this this past October for our 5th wedding anniversary and it was FABULOUS! It was better than celebrating in a resort or park restaurant with hundreds of our closest fellow tourists and children. It was very private and romantic! Our butler was Michael and he was great. He knew just when to disappear, when to serve, speak to us, etc. The balcony overlooks the lagoon, you can see the Poly, the electric water pageant and we saw the fireworks from Illuminations. In front of us was the pool and it was a bit noisy but after a while, people leave and that dies down. You really can't see the castle from where you are sitting, it is blocked by trees, but you do have a great view of the fireworks when they start. The food was first rate, no problems there, we were very happy with our personalize menu. It can be a bit expensive but imho, very worth it and sort of a once in a lifetime experience. We had shrimp cocktails, salads with pears, walnuts and gorgonzola cheese, hubby had tilapia in parchment paper with polenta and grilled zucchini and roasted red peppers and I had filet mignon with asparagus and crab poached in butter sauce. OMG! The "special dessert" served during the fireworks was wonderful! We ordered a bottle of wine to go with it.

Where ever you decide to spend your romantic night together, have a great time! :wizard:

Congratulations on our 9th! :lovestruc

Looks like we're neighbors. I'm in Morehead City.

My husband and I are will be celebrating 20 years in May. We thought about celebrating at California Grill but after reading some of these posts, I think we may try to get Victoria and Alberts!

I will be doing the GF private dinner with a friend. Both of us are celebrating our 45th birthday and wanted to do something special for ourselves...Since she is my bbfl we aren't looking for romantic but a splurge we would never do otherwise. I can't wait and I will let you know how it goes!

V&A, in that beautiful dining room with the harpist playing, most romantic place at WDW.

I would vote Bistro de Paris 2nd, Jiko 3rd. CG is way too noisy for me to consider it romantic.

I agree. V&A is the best place for romance by far (although the private dining experience sounds nice, too).

California Grill is too much of a frenetic scene to ever be considered romantic, IMO.
