Romantic dinner ideas

My boyfriend and I will be visiting WDW in the fall and it'll be our first time there together. We'll also be there with my parents and my brother and sister-in-law. I'd like to make an ADR for just the two of us to have a somewhat romantic dinner together and am looking for suggestions.

I've been to WDW nine previous times, but my family tends to do CS to save money. I've read a lot of menus, but I wanted to get some real feedback from some fellow Disers.

Prefer something at a resort, Downtown Disney or the Boardwalk as it'll probably be on our arrival day and we won't be visiting the parks that day, though park restaurant suggestions are still welcome just in case that changes.

Victoria and Albert's is too expensive but pretty much anything else is a possibility at the moment.

Artist Piont at the Wilderness Lodge. It is a Signature Restuarant on the DDP, but is half the price of V&A. I also hear that two of the other restuarants at the Grand Floridian are very nice.

I enjoy narocosee at grand flordian since it is on the lake. My wife and I go so we have alone time from the kids who are at the play center. The atomsphere is nice, but some may say it is loud. I never had a problem discussing stuff throughout my dinner. Families do bring there kids there. Hope this helps.

If you like seafood Fulton's in DTD is very good. Bluezoo, Mulino's or Shula's at the Swan@Dolphin are all very good.

Pretty much most of the ones that claim signature status can be romantic. Bluezoo has great food and a decent atmostphere, but be warned, any of the restaurants at the Swan & Dolphin can be full of business guys letting off steam during a convention, so it may not be the most romantic atmosphere depending on the crowd. My wife and I really like the atmosphere and food at Jiko. Seems a bit more peaceful and romantic than the others.

For romantic, Artist Point, Citrico's or Bistro de Paris have the nicest, quietest atmosphere.

Artist Point or Jiko is a great choice. Both have excellent menus, superb wine lists, and good service. Jiko might get the nod in terms of food--ever if so slightly--but Artist Point has slightly better ambience overall. Both are quiet restaurants, and though you can walk around AKL after dining at Jiko, there isn't as much to see as at the WL. At WL, you can stroll the very romantic grounds, step onto the beach (depending on timing, you might catch glimpses of Wishes or EWP), or walk down the nature trail that follows the lake just past the bike/boat rental. There's even a geyser that goes off hourly and lots of quiet areas where you can just sit to enjoy the evening. The lobby of WL itself is worthy of a few minutes of quiet relaxation. Overall, I'd have to give the nod to AP, but Jiko is a very close second.

Best advice -- dine late. Most people with families dine early, so we never book dinner before 8:45 to 9 pm.

Il Mulino is delicious and we love it, but I do not find it romantic. It's a noisy, Italian trattoria.

Narcoosee's can sometimes be fun -- if you go late. The food is pretty good, plus you can see the electrical water parade and the fireworks from the deck (and from some window tables -- except that everyone stands in front of the windows).

We have been disappointed by the food Artist Point, which used to be a favorite, so we never go there anymore.

California Grill is also off our list.

Jiko has good food but is a crap shoot as far as romance and ambience go. Recently, dh and I were having a lovely, quiet dinner in the wine room. I noticed the waiters setting up a table near us that was for about 12 people with 5 high chairs and booster seats! I mentioned this to our waiter and said I did not come to dinner at 9:30 p.m. and request the wine room to sit near 5 noisy kids. He acknowledged this could be a problem, very kindly went to his boss, came back to tell us the wine room was the only place to seat the group (say what?), but proceeded to set up for the group at the other side of the wine room. The group was horrible -- two kids in particular were pulling and pushing the hanging beads until the manager came to stop them. Then, the two kids would run across the wine room yelling, until the manager came to stop that activity. Happily, by this point, we were nearly done. But, for that reason, Jiko is not necessarily a good bet for romance, though the food is good.

Shula's is good for steak and they have one room where it can be quiet, with couples, rather than conventioneers.

Citrico's has good food but, again, tends to be a zoo as far as kids and noise go.

Many people like Flying Fish Cafe. We have not been there in years, so don't know the current situation there.

As for DownTown Disney, we had a quiet and delicious meal at Fulton's and a nice meal at Portabello Trattoria. We do not go to Wolfgang Puck's anymore as it has declined.

We used to like Yachtsman Steakhouse and it's probably still okay. It's just that there are so few choices for entrees anymore. We prefer Shula's.

Bistro de Paris at Epcot, used to be nice, but is a disaster now that they let kids order from the downstairs kids' menu. It was a circus when we dined there two months ago -- at 9 pm! It was noisier than Chef Mickey's.

Upshot -- I know of very few places for romantic dining at WDW anymore -- other than V&A.

Anything can be romantic in WDW when ur w/ someone u love. It all depends on ur idea of romantic. An evening walk sampling wine & treats @ Epcot? The Spirit of Aloha w/ a night time swing in the hammock? The TS I'd pick, is whatever types of food you both really enjoy. Seafood? Steak? Mexican? That way u can narrow down the search. you can also try the restaurant at the top of contemporary called california grill!

Plan for a late dinner at Narcosee's at the GF. Check the times for Wishes. Head to the Poly and watch the fireworks from the beach, but stop at the Tambu lounge and have a drink or two on the way. Sit on the beach, watch the Electric light parade and wishes (then propose to your GF during Wishes...er, wait, that was me!)...then walk (or monorail!) over to the GF for dinner. Very romantic. We loved Narcosee's, excellent food, excellent service. We ate there the night I proposed, during our Honeymoon, and now on our first anniversary trip we'll be dining there again.

I agree that Artists Point is lovely for a quiet romantic dinner. The ambience of the whole resort is great and relaxing in the evening. The food was good last time we were there (though not as great as the first time we dined there)

I also love the atmosphere to the O'hana - I know they have some activities going on during dinner. But we were at a quiet table around the perimeter of the restaurant, and the way they have it furnished absorbs a lot of sound. That was one of our favorite dinners last year.

One more option, but off the beaten path unless you're staying in the Animal kingdom area, is Mara's in Coronado Springs Resort. We had a great quiet dinner there (about 8:30). It was a last minute substitution, and we were very pleased with the food and atmosphere.

Jiko at AKL. DW and I had our 11th anniversary dinner there this past Dec and it was great. You could request a table in the Wine Room, which might be more romantic than the general dinning room (although there is nothing unromantic about the general dinning room).
