We will be honeymooning at WDW (Beach Club) the first week of August. We are not on the dining plan. I would love suggestions for a romantic dinner. We are steak/chicken/italian people, nothing too exotic :) Thanks in advance!

First you probably know this but... Disney is doing a deal in August/September where if you book a package including room and park tickets, you get dining free. Might be worth a call to change your reservations. Dining is a big part of what makes Disney fun for couples, there are great restaurants.

One that is good and won't break the bank is Ohana. Just ask for a secluded table behind the firepit. It can get rowdy but the food is phenomenal. Also Le Cellier in Canada. It's excellent. Good luck!

Top 3 choices on a budget for romantic with steak, chicken, italian:

1. Mama Melrose
2. San Angel (they do have steak and chicken dishes - and sitting by the water with mariachi band)
3. Concourse Steakhouse

It starts August 13... might be worth moving your honeymoon...

Just to help you out here's a link to the Disney website where you can book the free dining package. As long as you have 1 day of parks you can get food for your entire stay free. That means:

2 snacks
2 counter service meals
2 dinners - 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, 2 desserts
for each day of your stay - free.

Play with it and you'll see you're saving a ton of $$.

HTH!

Thanks! We actually have an awesome AP rate at the Beach Club for $189 which will save us $400 over having the free dining plan with a "free" annual pass. The $400 is to pay for our dining now. I priced out both trips and this one works out better for us. Thanks so much though! I'm checking out Le Cellier online and it looks good!

Awesome! Le Cellier and Ohana are our "must do's" on every trip. Congrats and have fun! We're following suit in September, our wedding is in Disney on Sept. 30 and we're also staying at the Beach Club, rented DVC. Can't wait to swim in that pool!! Have fun!

We ate at Tony's Time Square during our Honeymoon. We ate outside so we could watch people strolling along Main Street. They covered our table with Mickey confetti since it was our honeymoon. It was magical. I'm trying to think of where else we ate that trip... Palio & Yachtsman were nice, but a bit pricier. I'm blanking on the others for right now - if I remember any good ones I'll let you know. :thumbsup2

A nice place to eat is at Wolfgang Pucks Cafe in DTD. They have patio seating in the back of the restaurant which faces the DTD lake. It's nice and quiet there (outside I mean) and the food is very yummy!

Ohana is good, can be romatic, even when they do cocnut races, esp if you book a table to see wishes from there.

Spoodles, Le Cellier, The food at the GF Cafe is also very good

On our last trip my DH and I had a great meal at Maya Grill at Coronado Springs. I highly recommend it and its probably our 2nd favorite restaurant now (#1 is California Grill).
We ate at the Concourse and weren't too thrilled with it. Plus with chef mickeys right next door it can get loud.
Spoodles on the Boardwalk was also very good.

I see that you have an annual pass. You should purchase the Disney Dining Experience. I think that it is now $60 but will get you a 20% discount on all of your food and alcohol at almost all of the table service restaurants. This tends to make the nicer restaurants a bit more manageable. It pays for itself quickly.
A great place for a romantic dinner would be the Yachtsman. It is a steak house and is very nice. Ask for a window seat and you can see some of the Illuminations fireworks. Being at the Beach Club you are a easy walk from Chefs de France and the Rose and Crown (make a 7:40 ADR and watch Illuminations from the patio), both very nice moderate restaurants. Some nights if you just want to go for burgers and beer there is ESPN and the Big River Grille.

If you're not on the Dining Plan and don't have to worry about which places take it...

Palio at the Swan hotel
Portobello Yacht Club at Downtown Disney (though this one will be pricier)

Some of the restaurants listed are very nice but sometimes not for picky eaters (such as myself). Many times there is literaly nothing on the menu other than the deserts or maybe the salad that I would touch.

I would check out the menus on allearsnet.com and then ask about specific restaurants.

My wife and I really enjoyed an inside restaurant in Mexico (EPCOT). I forgot the name of it, but the lights were dim, they had fabulous murals and an awesome Mexican market nearby. Try it.

I've never eaten there, but I think that San Angel Inn looks very romantic. We're going to try it on our next visit.

Congratulations!

Jen

You know, its funny, my wife and I dined at V&A's on our honeymoon, but our most romantic dinner was a quick bite on a perfect night at Toy Story Pizza Planet!! :) We ate outside a little before closing. It was perfectly calm and warm night, there were only a few people around and it was awesome. The lighting is dimm in that area and it felt as if we were somewhere else. Its hard to explain, but it was definitley romatic.

Other than that, I would agree with the San Angel Inn by the river.

I hope you have a wonderful trip! :thumbsup2
