Romance??

In your opinion what is the most romantic resort at Disney? My hubby and I may go next year w/o the kids. Moderate is preferred but you can throw in a couple deluxes I guess. We'll splurge a little but we can't go crazy on the hotel room alone. FYI whirlpools or hot tubs are a must for him. Thanks for your help!

My DH and I went to Port Orleans Riverside Magnolia Bend for our honeymoon. I found it to be a very romantic resort. The quiet pools were nice and quite in the evenings. And just walking around the resort it was romantic.

It's a moderate resort so you don't have to "break the bank" to stay there.

We found the WL to be very romantic the January we were married and again on our 10th anniversary. Warming up by the fire places after Illuminations was just so cozy.

We just got back from the Port Orleans French Quarter. We loved it and I think you will too!!! We were there for nine days and found it very quiet. We were able to take walks around the grounds and along the river and there was hardly and other people. We felt like we were the only ones. We never had a line at the food court or to ask a question in the lobby. I think you'd be very happy here.

Deluxe pick - WL - Smaller resort, great hot tubs, beach, felt more intimate and cozy to me with its nooks and fireplace. Very private feeling.

Moderate pick - CSR - Stunning resort, especially at night - walk around the lake , HUGE hot tub - always room, tropical feel to it, hammocks, sand, upscale food court. Have experienced less children there than other moderates.

I think CSR for a moderate and AKL for a deluxe.

I would love to take my wife for a no kids vacation to Disney....But, my kids would freak.


But, I also would consider the Wilderness Lodge.

We honeymooned at Dixie Landings (now called POR) back in 1996 and found it very romantic. We loved just strolling the grounds, sometimes walking over to POFQ, taking the boat to DTD. On our last trip in May, we took a carriage ride. It's a lovely resort! I've seen CBR pictures and thought the beach area looked romantic. If you go deluxe, they're all romantic!

We were at the YC in June and I have to say that I found it far more romantic than I imagined it would be. I guess I was pleasantly surprised. The entire resort just has a more grown-up feel to it. Our room overlooked the marina and it was great for me and DH to escape to our balcony and watch the boats and people coming and going.

There is a beautiful gazebo there that they use for weddings. It is lit at night with little white lights. DH and I walked to it and just sat and enjoyed the peace and quiet.

SAB was mostly crowded with noisy, rambunctious kids (it is WDW!!!). So, we often used the quiet pool. There was hardly ever anyone else there. It felt very secluded and peaceful. There is a hot tub there that we practically had to ourselves anytime we went down!!!

To me, there is nothing more romantic than a hand-in-hand stroll along the little beach they have, or walking around the boardwalk. You can also rent boats there and take a turn around the lake. We loved taking the boat back from the Studios at night. If you sit out on the back of the boat, you often have that section to yourself and the trip is very pleasant.

YC is beautiful and you can walk over to the Boardwalk during the evening. Also you have close access to Epcot and MGM. AKL is neat because it is secluded. Another option is staying at a DTD resort and taking the riverboat

I am shocked people are saying WL. I feel its so big, cold, and masculine. Hardly romantic, more rustic. I think on a budget Port Orleans is very romantic. However nothing is more romantic then the Grand Flo, with its throwback to the Victorian era, the place screams romance. Ive had the beach to myself all different times of the year, and day. The view of the castle all over the property is amazing. Not to mention watching the fireworks from your balcony, or anywhere on the grass under one of the many trees on the water... Ohhh i could go on and on. I cant wait to go back for our anniversary December.

We have booked POFQ for the same reason, small and looks romatic.

We're staying at POFQ during our Disney wedding/Disneymoon. It's the only moderate that we've chosen for our stay this time. We've stayed at CBR before and found it could be romantic there when we walked around the resorts. It has some quiet seating areas away from the general hustle and bustle. Anyway... for a moderate I would suggest POFQ. Although we have yet to visit I have done ALOT of research and soooooo many people have said what a beautiful resort it is (certainly looks that when in the photos Ive seen), how quiet it is and there seems to be alot of people who choose it as their honeymoon resort...so it MUST have something!

We stayed at WL for our honeymoon. It was so romantic and relaxing. I love this resort. Another nice resort is CSR. We stayed there in July and my DH thought we were at a deluxe the whole time. I didn't correct him immediatly. hehehehe. You'll have a great time wherever you stay. Have fun.

We stayed at CBR for our honeymoon in '96. It was romantic. We loved walking along the beach in the evening.

If you don't want to break the bank, but would like a romantic deluxe resort, then WL is perfect. I won't repeat all the reasons already given, but can give you an idea of price. We just got back from a quick three night getaway there and got an AP rate of $124 a night. With tax, three nights was $415. We didn't get the annual pass until we got to the Orlando airport. Even for that short amount of time, it saved us about $255 on the room. We do plan to return in December, so it was worth it for us. (You have to figure in the difference in what the park tickets would have cost.) If you are staying longer, it could save you even more money.
