I am visiting Disney from Sept. 23rd to Sept 29th with my boyfriend. This will be his 2nd time to Disney. His first trip was when he was 3! I want this to be a romantic and exciting trip for the both of us. I just know he'll love it at Disney. I'm looking for romantic things to do around the parks while we're there. What have some of you done to make it even more magical and romantic than it already is? We are staying at Pop Century. We can hardly wait!!!

Yes I have planned a couple of dinners. One at the Garden Grill at the Contemporary and others in Epcot. Basically I wonder if anybody has special spots to watch the fireworks, or particular areas of the park that feel especially romantic. And what about the resorts, can you go to the Floridian for example and have a drink there even if youre staying at Pop. I'd lke to surprise him with some knowledge of the grounds and take him somewhere special. I haven't been there in almost 10 years and The last time I went it was with my roomate from college. So it was hardly romantic.. haha.

For a very romantic evening, try having dinner at Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge, either after a park or before Illuminations. Getting there is easy from a park (just hop on the AKL bus) but plan on at least one hour from Pop Century (taking a park bus first, then AKL bus). If you go for a later dinner (after 8ish) there are less kids & ask for a table for two by the window. Otherwise, you can do an early dinner, enjoy the animals on the savannahs, then head over to either Illuminations or PI for the evening.

I like Jiko ;) .

You can eat at Grand Floridian & then order the glass slipper dessert. You can tell him that you are giving him your glass slipper because he is your prince (or something like that - sorry, I am not that romantic anymore - been married too long I guess!). Or just go for dessert instead of a meal & get the slipper. It is $8 & you need to let them know in advance.
Also, the Illuminations Cruise sounds very romantic. I have heard you can bring your own bottle of wine & watch the fireworks from the boat.
At the Garden Grille in FW at EPCOT they have rehitching ceremonies. Maybe one will be going on while you are there if you are trying to give him a hint that you want to get married!!

Just an FYI on the Glass Slipper:

They've recently increased the price from $8 to $14

OOps, I realized I made a mistake, I made my reservation for the California Grill not the Garden Grill. Right place, wrong name. Anyway, these are such great tips. Keep em' coming!!

My fiance and I will be going to WDW for our first trip/honeymoon at the end of August, so I can't vouch for the romantics myself, but off the top of my head, here are a couple of semi-romantic things that we would like to do. (I'm at work, my list is at home, so we'll see how my memory is! ;) )

- check out the rose gardens behind the Cinderella Castle
- relax in belle's storytime garden in-between shows

- butterfly garden in Epcot near Test Track
- take time to explore the nooks & crannies of the World Showcase

- visit pleasure island

- make sure that we're not so tired from the parks that we don't spend some quality time together in the hotel! ;)

We'll also make PSs for a couple of restaurants. We don't have the money to do any really fancy/expensive ones, but we'll probably eat a few times in the world showcase. Romantic doesn't have to mean expensive, thank goodness! :)

Hi

I'm kind of in the same boat as you, thatdarncat. My SO has only been there for 1 day total last year and he's 36. I'm trying to make our Sept trip something extra special.

I think we're going to do a carriage ride at POR or WL and we have an Illuminations cruise booked. I'm also looking forward to doing the countries with him - just taking time in each, having a drink and soaking up the atmosphere. Something else I want to do is get a Lapu Lapu from the Poly and visit the beach for the Parade.

Good luck with your planning & have fun!

AKL is very romantic and you can visit for free. If you don't want to do the bus thing you can always check on a cab. It was about $8 from All Stars to AKL. I am not sure about from or to POP. Just wander and check out the animals.

Romance comes easily in Disney I think. My husband and I have been married for 4 years (in Sept) and our Sept trip will be our 3rd while being married (my 6th). We first visited Disney together during our 1 year anniversary. He planned a romantic dinner at V&A, and it went beautifully.
I think the key to Disney romance is TAKE YOUR TIME!! Relax. Enjoy everything around you. That first trip was awesome, but I think last year was better because we took our time to enjoy the fact we were in Disney! Everyone on these boards could tell you of their romantic places, but the true romance comes when you discover your OWN place. I know that Bob and I are going to try and find that hidden path at Animal Kingdom. That will be our thing this year.
Like I have already said, Disney makes it very easy to be romantic. Just take advantage of your surroundings. Nature does a remarkable job of giving a backdrop of romantic beauty.

***Plus, take tons of pictures you can look back and reflect on. My fav pic is of Bob scratching his nose on the ferry to MK and he didn't even know. Cinderella's castle is in the distance. Such a great pic!!!***pirate:
