Tell me about it. How much is it? What does it include?

We will be celebrating my birthday and our 5th anniversary on the ship so as if the cruise isn't special I was thinking of surprising dh with something romantic. I read somewhere abutt robes, dinner at palo, chocolate, but not sure if it was the package or something different.

Thnx

Agr. Typing this on my blackberry. Tons of wrong keys. Lol

Check the DCL web site and you can get the most up to date prices and info...We have done it a few times but it changes slightly year to year.

We did this in December 2008 - it included champagne breakfast in bed, priority seating at Palo, rainforest passes for two, two robes in the ice bucket, romantic turndown service which was the rose petals on the bed and the swan towel arrangement. We were also available to book our excursions, etc. at the 105 day mark. It was $359 I believe.... The robes are oversize. Hope this helps!

My DH arranged this package for us, it is my birthday and our 9th anniversary during the cruise too! :cool1:

We haven't gone on the cruise yet, but we were able to make reservations for Palo waaay ealier than most thanks to it. We got the exact spots for both brunch and dinner that we wanted.

Can't wait to try the rest of the package.
Congrats on all those celebrations during your cruise!:thumbsup2

does anyone know off hand if we book it do we have to pay for it now or is it added to the balance that has to be paid but end of feb? and do we call dcl to book it or does it go through our TA?

DCL say's on its website,

On board, you'll receive:
• Priority Seating at Palo
• Bottle of wine from the Premium Wine List (one night)
• Tropical Rain Forest pass for two at the Vista Spa & Salon (length of cruise)
• Romantic gift amenity delivered to your stateroom (one per package)
• Romance turndown service (one night)
• Champagne breakfast in bed (one morning)
$359 Sailings up to 10 nights

2009 all year is now on sale. Book direct with DCL or your TA.

Now The REAS package includes:

• Romantic gift amenity delivered to your stateroom (one per package, usually includes two one-size-fits-most robes, a bottle of champagne and chocolates)
• Bottle of wine from the Premium Wine List (one night)
• Tropical Rain Forest pass for two at the Vista Spa & Salon (length of cruise)
• Priority seating at Palo (one dinner or brunch - package covers the usual nominal per-person fee)
• Romance turndown service (one night)
• Champagne breakfast in bed (one morning - this is a full breakfast, from a more extensive menu than the standard continental breakfast room service)

The retail value of the stateroom gift is $90 The bottle of wine is worth $25-$50.
A Tropical Rain Forest pass costs $15 a day or $75 for a 7-day pass (per person),

and the Palo fees for dinner normally total $30.

There is some additional value in the upgraded room service breakfast and being pampered with the romance turndown service. Plus, you have the luxury of pre-booking everything early.* It's hard to put a dollar value on the REAS add-on.

*An unadvertised (loophole) aspect of the Romantic Escape at Sea add-on is that you get to pre-book your Palo reservation(s), shore excursions and any spa services 105 days in advance of your cruise (the same time frame as passengers staying in suites!), as long as you've paid for your cruise in full. Only the cost of one dinner at Palo is included in the package.

The fees for additional Palo reservations, shore excursions and spa appointments aren't included in the package, but you can still book them 105 days in advance if you've purchased this add-on.

The 105 days booking, is a loophole for everything bar the one Palo booking, and has been around for some time, but must be made clear this is NOT part of the REAS package and could be removed.

IMHO only ever book REAS for the FULL package, if you want the full package, not just for booking early as if you get on ship early you can secure all Palo bookings without the charge.

do you actually get to board the ship early or is it that they act like your a suite guest for bookings but doesn't mean boarding?

No thats not part of it, sorry. Its only that you can book ressies @ 105 days and thats how a comparison to suite customers is made.

Also, the "premium" bottle of wine at Palo is actually a $50.00 credit toward a bottle of wine.

We wondered about doing this for our transatlantic cruise but it was not offered, I wonder if any one knows if it was offered last time.

We got this for our 4-night honeymoon cruise 2 years ago. It was a nice touch but we probably won't do it again.

• Priority Seating at Palo - For the most part, I haven't had a hard time getting Palo dinner reservations anyway. If it was high tea or brunch, that's a different story. ;)
• Bottle of wine from the Premium Wine List (one night) - As mentioned before, it's really a $50 credit but we're not wine drinkers. We got a nice bottle of wine and winded up sharing it with our table on the last night of the cruise because we couldn't finish it.
• Tropical Rain Forest pass for two at the Vista Spa & Salon (length of cruise) - Hopefully, they've improved it in the last 2 years but Tropical Rain Forest was overrated in my opinion. I would have rather gotten a credit towards a couple's treatment.
• Romantic gift amenity delivered to your stateroom (one per package) - I loved the robes. Though we didn't wear them on the cruise and have never worn them since, they are nice souveniors.
• Romance turndown service (one night) - A nice touch.
• Champagne breakfast in bed (one morning) - Again, we don't drink much so we actually swapped our champagne for Martinelli's Sparkling Cider. We actually got 2 bottles. Otherwise, you can get room service breakfast for free anyway. ;)

If you book the Romantic Escape, figure out when 107 days before your cruise is. 107 days out, pay the balance with your TA. 106 days out, make sure your TA paid Disney. 105 days out, make your reservations.

You have to call your TA and have them add it to your ressie.
You will then pay it with your balance and if you want to make the Palo ressie at 105 days out make sure your cruise is paid in full by 106 days.

On your last note about service breakfast- is the breakfast not different anymore? We did the REAS pkg in 2006 (and weren't able to on our crusie in 2008 since it was the panama canal cruise) -and were considering doing it again which is why I read this thread. But when we did it in 2006 we were allowed to order that breakfast off a completely different breakfast menu- not continental style... anything you wanted basically. We loved it and sure did wish we could order off that menu every day! (the regular menu was things like cereal, donuts, etc. The REAS breakfast in bed we were able to order eggs, bacon, oatmeal, sausage, etc. etc.- can't remember everything but it was like stuff you can get for breakfast in the restaurants)

It's not like that anymore?
Just wondering. I was primarily reading this thread to find out if you still got to book things 105 days out too. LOL

(oh we still have our robes- they are great quality although for some reason one of them turned yellowish hanging in our closet for years. Weird huh? The other one is fine. I'm using my mickey metal shallow rectangular basket thingy in our bathroom still to this day LOL Does it still come with that?)

I have the REAS booked for our May Western.....i am so excited!:cool1:

*I was able to book Palo Dinner, Brunch, and High Tea at exactly the times I wanted.
*I have NEVER had breakfast in bed (except when sick)....I am looking forward to the 3 of us (DD6) all snuggly with a big breakfast in bed...absolutely never thought to have Chamagne! :rotfl:
*We would order wine anyway....so thats a plus
*I have been to the Spa, and look forward to hanging out in the Rainforest.
*The robes and Ice Bucket look like great items to take home.
