Roller Coaster Inversion Explanation

I thought I read here a good explanation about coaster inversions. Dark Marauder, were you the one who posted it? Or was it Barry? Anyway, I wanted to show it to my 10yo, but I can't find it. Anyone have a clue what I'm talking about? Or did I dream it?

An inverson is when you go upside down. Do you need an explanation on the different types?

Thanks, Lisa, that's it! (and Barry, you need to get with the program! ). That will help my 10yo roller coaster weinie understand what I'm talking about. He did his first upside down coaster at Hershey Park, but we're talking the Superdooperlooper and he only went because his 4yo brother was going. He ended up loving it and thinks his next coaster should be Rock N Roller Coaster. He's trying to weasle a WDW trip out of me, I do believe.

Barry, I never heard--how did you like Storm Runner at Hershey Park? I went with my 16yo DD and 13yo DS. My son was scared silly before going and wanted to back out at the last minute (he'd wanted to go before that point, so don't think I was torturing him...). We went and it was incredible! Since I closed my eyes on that 80 degree drop (not normal behavior for me, BTW) I really wanted to ride again later to really enjoy it, but the line was too long at that point.

We'll go again next summer. My older kids are pushing for Ceder Point, though. I want Dorney Park next year to try out the new coaster they are building there. We've never gone to Busch Gardens Williamsburg, either. I suppose we can just pull a Barry and go to all the parks (my DH thinks I'm wacky!)

Anyway, I thought Storm Runner was a lot better than Top Thrill Dragster because it had more variety. The first inversion seems like you're upside down forever.

As for going to parks, come along! I don't know where I'll be next summer, but it'll be with coasters for sure! You have to get used to eating cheap food and staying in cheap hotels, though.

I haven't been on Top Thrill before. My DS was reading about it yesterday, though and asking me if I would go on it.

BTW, we did go on Lightening Racer at Hershey and thought it was great. I've never actually liked a wooden coaster since they are usually more rickety (which triggers migraines) but that one was smooth and fun. Still couldn't get my 10yo on it, though.


My DH reminds me how I used to not go on the big coasters and wouldn't go on Mind Eraser at what is now 6 Flags because the feet dangled. HA, he's now the one who didn't go on Storm Runner!

I haven't seen it so maybe I'll be singing a different tune then, but I'd be the one talking them into it!

Barry, is TTD more intimidating looking than Storm Runner? I know you like SR better, but does one look scarier than the other? I love the SR launch--0-72MPH in 2 seconds!
