Rollaway beds?

I'm wondering if any policy has changed yet at DVC resorts. We are planning stays at VB and OKW in July. We have 1 BR for each stay. Of course I have a daughter 13 and a son 12 that won't share a bed (and of course shouldn't). I don't really like the idea of my hubby & I splitting up either for the week or my son/daughter taking turns sleeping on the floor.

Has DVC eased up their policy of no rollaways? I've read old posts that DVC has provided rollaways but it seems to be on a case-by-case basis (such as a disability, etc.). I'm willing to pay up to $15 a day for this option.

Anyone have any knowledge of the policy?

I guess worse case scenario you could pack a (small ??) blow up bed. Depending on how much room you have in your suitcase. We drive so taking a twin air mattress is not a big deal.

ETA: Sorry I do not know the policy just trying to tell you an alternative way in case the roll away is a no go.

I did see them delivering a rollaway to a room at BWV one time but they are connected to the Inn, so I don't know if that makes a difference. It would be kind of hard to deliver one at OKW being so spreadout and steps in the buildings. I have shared rooms with friends where one person brought a twin aero bed in a duffle as checked luggage.

I've owned DVC since 1997 and the DVC resorts have never provided rollways in all those years.

As mentioned above, you may want to bring an air bed and bedding for it yourself as an option. I did this years back when we would stay in the one bedroom villas for four of us.

Unfortunately, I'm not driving - flying in from San Francisco, a week on a Disney Cruise and then a week in WDW, so the idea of an aero bed won't work. I guess, though, we can take the pillows that are removed from the sofa bed and that can be another bed?

We take an air bed every time we go since my teens don't sleep together either. We stayed at ASMo for just one night before moving to SSR and there was definitely no room for the bed on the floor. DH shared with my 16 year old son and I bunked with my daughter. It was okay for one night but not for a whole week.

We pack our airbed in a small black knapsack that my husband uses as a carry on when we fly. I carry a good size carry on so he's just puts his stuff in there. We have used our airbed at SSR, BCV and OKW.

There have been reports of some resorts having aerobeds available to borrow. Maybe you could ask about this option when you check in. Good luck!

We always flew and took ours in the luggage. It did not take up too much room, and once we even took it in a carry on. You could also ship it ahead to the resort for them to hold till you arrive. Good luck!

Have you thought about ordering one on-line and having it shipped to your resort?

We used one that I purchased at Target for around $25 (with the pump) when we were at HHI over Thanksgiving and it worked out perfectly. (We drove though, so packing it wasn't an issue). My only caution would be that we did not realize that the pump had to be charged for 12 hours before use...so that first night my DS7 didn't have a fully inflated matress.

For that price, you could afford to use it for the week and then try to pass it off.

I'd call the bell services at your resort and ask them how you should label it so that they know to store it for you and then I'd order one on-line a few weeks ahead of your arrival date. You could easily track it and call to confirm once it arrives.

Another option would be Wegoshop. I haven't used them but they may be able to buy something like this locally and deliver to your resort (for a fee, of course).

I'd suggest buying an air mattress bed of some kind and getting an Owners Locker to store it and other items between your trips.

We bring an aero bed with us every trip b/c our 2 sons won't sleep in the same bed either. We always pack it in a suitcase or duffle and check it, if we fly.

It's DVC's policy and I don't see it changing. When BWV opened they were supposed to (might have had) roll aways but did away with the option almost immediately. They have them, you just can't get them. I think the only time you'll see them at the villas is when something happens where they have to put someone in room smaller than expected such as no room is available or a room goes out of service.

Hi,We have packed a cheep one in a small siutcase. Left the airbed behind and used the suitcase for suviners. For some odd reason we can not pack everything to go back home. We always run out of space. I don't know where you are from but Target sometimes sells full for under $20.00. Thats cheeper than to rent one for $15.00 a day. If you are staying at OKW in a one bed there should be space for it.

We have done the airbed thing too, but if you are at OKW, kids those ages can easily sleep on the sofa and love seat. Let one use the hide-a-bed one night while the other uses t he love seat as a bed. The next night they get to change spots so they get the pull out at least every other night. The other option is to take the cushions from the sofa and make a bed of them on the floor. We've done that too.

Buy an Aerobed and have it shipped down. When you're done ship it home.

At OKW, the cushions will come off the sleeper sofa and you can use them on the floor.

BWV and BCV have the sleeper sofas with the non-removable cushions.

You will still have to provide your own linens whatever you do.

I picked up a twin air mattress at Toys R Us recently for $15 on clearance. It has a built in pump with a power cord. We're taking it in a small wheeled carry-on since it's quite heavy and would put us over the weight limit on luggage pretty quickly if we were putting it in a suitcase with other items to check.

We bought at AKV specifically because of the pull-out couch and chair, so we wouldn't have to worry about an air mattress, but we're on developer points at SSR this trip. Luckily DD9 thinks it's fun to sleep on the air mattress!
