Did you hear, there was another shooting in DC! This time it was a woman at a Home Depot store parking lot. This just happened! They are reporting that she was shot in the head and didn't make it. ANY of you who live near by or planning a visit PLEASE BECAREFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It has been real busy tonight. I've been having the hadest time getting on the boards!

Yep. I think we finally broke the boards!
I couldn't get on so I went for my dose of depression in front of the TV. All of my Dad's side of the family are in Fredricksberg and I have friends in Alexandria. Everytime there is a shooting reported, I tell myself that it's still very safe, and that the odds are far in their favor. But with every additional shooting, my optimism falters. I worry for every resident there. They must be stressing out so bad. I would be. Heck, I'd be coming to visit cousin Lori in Colorado. I know they need to go on with the regular day, but this is getting so intense! Ugh. I'm going to bed after sneaking another kiss onto my precious, sleeping kids.

Had the TV on and saw about the latest shooting. Sounds like they have a few more leads rom this one. I sure hope this is the last and they get the right info to stop this madness!!

Now it is my turn to run late. I forgot to set the alarm. Thank heavens for that internal alarm clock.

I just heard of the shooting. He is getting less brazen, looks like he/she waited til after dark this time. It has me very worried. I have to be in that area Nov. 5, 6 & 7 for a workshop. I hope they get him before then.

On the brighter side- 14 more to hit 1900!! Only today and tomorrow to get it up to the 2000 mark so those of you here during the day will have to work very hard. By Thursday evening not many of us will be left here.

Everyone in the new hire class is getting excited aobut my trip also. I tell them all about you guys!

Well in exactly 48 hours I'll be leaving the rain, dull and grey of the UK and taking off for Orlando (well via NC).

Just a quick question... I've heard of them from being in the US many times and of course working in the US but what exactly are grits? If you were talking about that to a british person they would think you were talking about something you put down on a highway!

Garry - I always carry a wallet and will be taking one with me, of course it is an Epcot wallet!!!

Darren: Do you know the duck, duck, duck, Goose children's game? If so, you're it. Everyone is sitting in a circle and the goose goes around touching each person's head and calls them a duck or a goose. When he picks the goose he takes off running back around the circle with the new goose chasing him and tries to get back and sit in that spot before being caught. So, basically, you need to pick who the next goose will be! By the time you get to NC, I'll be headng south to FLA.

Grits are ground hominy (a type of corn). Once cooked it is similar, but not exactly like Cream of Wheat or Farina (both I do not like). Grits are best with butter and salt and pepper. And from the deep south, red-eye gravy!!! Served ususally with eggs and a breakfast meat. Or, in my case, just by themselves with nothing else but the butter, S & P!!

Just wanted to thank you all for the very warm birthday wishes. Sue IS my sister, my chosen sister. That's why she can get away with stuff like that. So now that everyone knows that I'm a half a century, there better be a lot of "You certainly don't look fifty" comments flowing! I guess there's a bright side to this revelation. People won't be thinking that I'm older than I really am. Anyhow, thank you all again and Sue I'd be looking over my shoulder if I were you. Love to you all, Candy

Good morning everyone. Woke up yesterday with the sniffles. Was pumping vitamin C. Took a zinc and benadryl. Went to bed early last night and today doing better. Still can feel it but better. Cross your fingers it doesn't get worse. I always seem to get bronchitis and my poor hubby will never get sleep on the ship if I do get it. My coughing is horrible with it. Can you imagine the poor people next to us, also? Cough syrup with codeine doesn't even cut it. Oh well. Hopefully, a few prayers will work.

Will try and check in later today. Garry, you get better as well. Diana, I hope you are doing good.

Bonnie, my second gown only cost 24.00. Nice price, huh? Can afford alterations with that price!
